(Eucalyptus)

As someone who’s spent most of my life in Australia, this is the kind of album that makes me happy to cover! Although obviously this is regarding the pocket sampling app (Koala Sampler), it’s still a sick reference to the most native animal to Australia, so let’s get to it!

This is the latest Beat tape by ‘Snoff The Maker’ with 10 fresh tracks all done by himself while also featuring ‘Shane Wheeler’, the saxophone player who does an incredible job on the intro track.

This album has such a uniquely beautiful and fresh quality to it that it’s hard to put into words. With every beat and sample, it feels like I’m getting splashed by sonic ice-cold water on a hot summer’s day; the feeling of relief and refreshment I feel that same sensation across my headphones with every track that passes.

There are elements of:

– Lo-Fi

-Jazz

-Soul

-Ambient

-Hip Hop

And he arranges these elements in such a way that is crisp, original, and fun to listen to in every possible way.

You can hear the mastery in his technique, the passion, and the creativity. Although there are no words, just like with greats such as J Dilla, Madlib, or Flying Lotus, you don’t need words to express quality, and this is such a case.

This kind of reminds me of a modernised take on one of those classic old-school Japanese piano or jazz albums you can find scattered along the Internet such as:

-Ryo Fukui -Scenary or -Hiroshi Yoshimura -Wet Land

Sure, different music entirely, but the vibe, aura, and atmosphere I can relate to with this record, and that’s what helps elevate this record for me!

The Verdict? This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea for sure, but I definitely recommend you give it a try to experience something new!
