The last time we checked in, one Supreme Cerebral was back in January with his AOTY contender with ‘Son Of Hannibal’ featuring Swab. I don’t even remember if I wrote that under Raw Side Hip Hop or Serpent Tongue Reviews, but nevertheless, he made a strong statement early on and is back to shake up the industry again! So let’s talk about it!
So this time around, we have the collaboration of Supreme Cerebral and Macapella (someone who is new to me), but no doubt will be dope as they release a collection of 11 songs with 32 minutes of run time. Featuring the likes of:
-Hus Kingpin
-Jamil Honesty
-DJ TMB
-Ralphiiee Reese
-Yolanda Sargent
-Eloh Kush
And with this army of veterans behind him, he’s sure not to lose, and I can tell you now if his first 2025 instalment blew you away, then you ain’t ready for this one.
Let’s start with the production because what Macapella did that I honestly love is using such common and often used elements of Hip Hop like Grime and Boom Bap and somehow elevates them to a new cinematic and rich frequency that feels like a classical Hip Hop renaissance.
I love his use of long and sharp chord progressions and crisp productions such as the opening track.
Or even how he utilises those angelic piano keys alongside that heavy bass beat to create this surreal atmosphere that makes the listener feel goosebumps all over their body and soul, and it legitimately makes you feel as if you’ve just gotten sober once the track is over! It’s that fucking powerful.
If I had to name my favourite beat on the album, it would have to be the song ‘Dart Gallery’, and it’s gorgeously done with the execution of female choir vocal loops, those synth-sounding chords in the background with that ruthless and crisp boom Bap beat that feels like a sonic punch in the face, and I love everything about it!
This album feels Dolby Atmos in quality; it feels as if they were able to sneak in cinema-level speakers into your headphones to listen to this one properly. I have quality headphones, but I’ve never heard an album sound this grand or clear on Spotify before. I can’t imagine how it must sound on Bandcamp, but I’m telling you this ain’t any normal album; based on just the sound mastery alone, this thing has to be the best-produced album of the year so far!
Supreme, the man of the half hour. He’s been a force to be reckoned with for years now, with the world watching him grow and sharpen his skills, and now across this project, he’s letting all his experience and passion shine out and showcase his best self. It’s a blessing to the fans but a nightmare to the other MC’s out there!
His trademark energetic and rough-around-the-edges vocal tones tremble across the beats, causing an earthquake with each word spit, blowing all the competition away with his tsunami-strong flow and burning the world around him with his fire pen game.
He’s one of those guys that just has that ‘it factor’ when rapping. The one of a generation MC where he speaks, and EVERYONE listens. He commands a room and makes sure the audience takes notice and doesn’t let go until he says what he came to say, and that’s why he’s commanded so much love and respect in the game because of these qualities!
As mentioned, he’s coming with a group of lyrical killers who could easily storm through any and all competitions by themselves, but together they come and bring a level of excellence and power that we haven’t seen much of this year at all! They all brought their A game to match Cerebrals’ intensity and dynamic influence, and they do their best to match.
To say this album is amazing is the understatement of the year. He came into 2025 with an AOTY contender, and once again, he follows suit with another AOTY. His chemistry with Macapella is one of the best we’ve seen yet!
