They’re already back? Man. I’d love like a ‘Big Brother’ live stream of their lives and see what exactly they do to stay so consistent? I mean, with my reviews, I barely sleep as it is, but at least I don’t have to worry about going to studios and recording shit. How do they do it? Insane.
Once again, The Penlordz are back with a brand new EP featuring five tracks and a 15-minute length.
As usual, no features besides the three lords and produced by Da Grand Hova, who is a regular beatmaker for the collective, and once again, he hits a home run because this EP sounds beautiful!
Across these five tracks, we have some of the smoothest, intricate, and breathtaking takes on the underground hip-hop I’ve heard yet. We are talking angelic vocal harmonies, strong violin strings, infectious yet minimal drum patterns, thick bass lines, and enough care and passion infused to make this pop like a theatrical masterpiece!
Although only 15 minutes in length, this thing feels like half an hour. The way each instrument is elevated and carried to new heights is crazy! I love how each sound has an old-school 80’s/90’s feel to it in its execution and craft! This thing is a treat for the ears, heart, and soul! It’s natural in its presentation; the way each beat glides through your body and helps your body relax is incredible!
That’s the one aspect of each Penlordz drop that I feel most won’t appreciate. It’s the fact that no matter what producer they work with, they always maintain such a harmonic and soothing sonic texture that feels like sonic healing and meditation that no one else in the game is concerned about or even doing at all! It’s one of my favourite things about them!
Speaking of the trio. If there’s one thing you can guarantee without any worry, it’s that Audio Messiah, Fam Ross, and Arsinel are going to give you masterclasses in how to spit the perfect verse.
I’ve been covering them since the start of the year, and I’ve never heard a mediocre verse by any of them (together or solo). They just have too much pride and respect for their music to ever drop anything half asses!
As usual, they bring their trademark quality across these five tracks. I’m talking enlightening verses with strong messages, fluent flows, untouchable pen game, incredible wordplay, and infectious rhythm that feels like wind in the ear! Absolutely clear and organic!
These men have such an incredible chemistry that it’s truly insane to think about when you take a step outside of the game and see that no one else has that same synchronicity as they do! The only other names I can think of that could come close are Al Divino X Estee Nack, as they’ve been doing duo albums for years now!
But still, that’s a gift 99.99% of the game doesn’t have, and it’s hard to describe in new words that I haven’t already said 10x over in past reviews, but when you have three men who are on the exact same wavelength, who are all premium spitters in their own rights, and have made it their mission to not only bring higher standards to the underground but do it together?
It unlocks something that you can only achieve through consistent building and bonding, and as far as I’m concerned, they are the pinnacle of that!
Once again, another stellar performance by the Penlordz. I’m honoured to be able to call them my friends from across countries, and I know they aren’t even close to stopping for the year. So excited what more they grace us with!
