I’m so hyped to hear that this man is back! The legend himself. After reviewing his last record, which I’ve since categorised as one of my favourite wrestling-themed albums of all time! And now he’s back with
BLOOD ON MY HANDS
So, this is the latest album by MC Teek Hall and produced by the legendary Cee Gee! Together, they dropped eight tracks with one feature in -G1ToTheRescue, a close associate with Teek!
And I’ll start off by saying this: compared to the other album (3MB), this one feels a lot more of a balanced effort of (Wrestling/Hip Hop). The other one felt like a wrestling album with elements of Hip Hop, while this one feels like a rap album with elements of wrestling.
So that’s neither a positive nor a negative critic; it’s just an observation! You still have plenty of references and one-liners and phrases, as well as sample snippets of various things, but in no way as far as the other album took it!
The sounds on this record are absolutely beautiful and mastered to perfection (as expected from someone high in calibre as Cee Gee). The music itself is mesmerising, methodical, and surreal all in one!
I’m talking
-Ambient/Intricate Keys
-Light Drums
-Hypnotic vocal samples
-Synth chords
-Thick Bass lines
-Glossy keys
-90’s style cuts and scratches
It’s in these various elements where Cee works his magic and makes one of the most surreal moments in hip hop this year. The instrumentals are more on the ‘minimalistic’ side compared to a lot of shit coming out lately, but because of the quality of the producer, he’s able to utilise fewer sounds and make more!
As expected, Cee was able to bring a grand and polished flair to this record that very few other producers could match. This album feels lavish and rich in depth and detail, and it makes for a record I can foresee having tons of replay value to the listener!
Now, onto Teek. As I explained before, he’s toned down on the references a tad, but that doesn’t take away from his dope abilities as an MC, period, and he’s showcasing that across this project!
We get to hear his trademark eccentric personality and energy! His remarkable sense of timing and flexibility across the beats and his effortless approach to rhythm and lyricism across any topic and theme (not just wrestling) makes him a standout MC!
Even when talking about wrestling, he has a way of storytelling where you feel like you’re there in the room with him. You feel yourself transported into the situation he’s describing, and you can picture the events as if they were your own. His natural passion and conviction on the mic make every word he says feel larger than life and more colourful and flavourful than most other rappers in the industry!
I love to hear him go off on a track! He sounds like he’s giving a 2022 MJF Promo! He’s slick, sharp, and ever so cunning with these words while keeping the attention of the audience solely on him for the duration of the mic time! And when he drops the microphone, you can hear a pin drop!
He’s one of the most underrated and unique MC’s out right now, and to grab the attention of a legend like Cee Gee, it proves the point 10x fold. This man is bold and original, and we need more people like him in the industry! Go fuck with the album!
