Man, we’re getting a heartfelt track now? Is there anything these two can’t create together? After just listening to one of the smoothest pieces of rap music I’ve ever heard, now we have this vibe? Colour me excited. Let’s talk about it!
This is another single collaboration by MC FLYG and Producer Jazzy Lion Man! The duo that seems to never disappoint and only drop bangers! With larger-than-life sounds and exquisite lyricism, we have the best of both worlds coming together, and that is no different across this one!
This one (opposite to the last single LIONSBREATH) feels a lot more sombre in comparison. It’s got this tragic atmosphere and feel to it with these methodically paced piano chords, somewhat sounds like subtle maracas going off, as well as this very eerie and sad-toned vocal sample on loop.
The whole track feels like a heartfelt jazz ballad. It’s definitely not a sound I’ve heard utilised by Jazzy yet, and it further proves how diverse and creative this man really is!
This beat honestly makes me think of my passed grandma and the times we spent together. It’s the type of track (at least for me) that evokes memories and heavy memories and nostalgia, which is definitely the kind of experience I’d want to feel while I’m at home in bed, not at work haha, but regardless, it’s definitely one of the most heavy and concentrated songs I’ve heard in 2025!
To accompany the track, we have once again FlyG, who this time around sounds more surreal and methodical to match the tone of the track. He once again utilises his newly trademarked lyrical prowess. With a very powerful opening line by going ‘Why did you take that love?’ Again, since my mind is focused on my Nan, that line almost broke me (I saw almost purely because I’m at work and can’t be crying like a bitch here), but if I was at home, yeah, I’d be gone.
He’s decided to empathise his fantastic wordplay with the sad and heartbreaking atmosphere of the song, and pairing emotions with his genius vocabulary, you create an experience that can’t be compared to!
I love how towards the end he just starts slowing down, stops rapping, and just starts talking from his heart and thinking out loud.
To me, this gives me an idea of his mindset and mental going into the booth. I can imagine that he finished his written or memorised verse, then just sat there while the beat kept going, and his mouth just went on without his control.
Ironically, this kind of motion is what I’m scared of and why I’ve never visited my grandma’s grave. I feel not accepting it is the only thing keeping me from spiralling, and I feel (in a similar fashion) FlyG is just speaking things into existence at the end just to talk and let his heart time to express itself even if just for a few seconds.
Man, I wasn’t expecting to be hit this hard emotionally over this track. If my opinion means anything to you, fucks, just now this track was so powerful it broke even me! If you want to experience raw emotions, then give this a try!
