For example, you have the lead single ‘Smooth Jazz’, which is approximately named. Because it has that gorgeous jazz horns combined with those heavy drums and light, delicate keys! The perfect jazz/rap fusion definitely reminds me of that 90s Tribe Called Quest vibe!
Then you have tracks like ‘Sugar Water’, which further highlights that 90s jazz vibes. You’ve got those repetitive notes that loop in such a hypnotic way that it relieves any stress and pain in the body!
This is accompanied by light keys and raw, old-school style drum patterns that leave a lasting impression in your head days after listening!
Although this album is only eight tracks and less than half an hour, you wouldn’t realise it. Because there’s so much flavour and complexity within this album that you don’t realise the time until it’s done! Very well executed in the production!
As far as the MC work goes, of course, Che killed it. That verdict should come as no surprise to anyone who listens to her music as she’s been one of the most consistent in the game right now.
