Man, just when I think I don’t sleep we have this man who out does even me! That’s why I respect artists like this! Someone who is always on the grind no matter what life throws at him and creating gold in the process!
So, this is the latest single remix by Gustavo Louis! This time he’s taking the beat of West Side Gunn of his album ‘HEELS HAVE EYES 2’ using the track ‘PRICK’ (hence the title) which by the way is an amazing name for a song!
Now, you’re all familiar with that beat. It’s that melodic, stripped down piano heavy track with those light jazz drums in the background. Very minimal yet powerful in execution.
This is where GUSTAVO comes! Because as we’ve seen, he ain’t the type to shy away from any and all influences whether that be Freddie Gibbs, Earl Sweatshirt or now Westside! All of these are formidable players in the game and how does Gustavo fair on this track?
He does (as I expected him to) absolutely extraordinary! It seems to me that whether he’s talking over a high, glossy million dollar beat or a stripped back and minimal beat his natural charisma and energy exceeds all sounds and matches all!
I love his character and vibe across these remixes. He’s coming in with this attitude of ‘oh yeah you did it like this?, let me show you why it would be better LIKE THAT’ and just jumping into these established beats with incredible originality, free form flow and an attitude so confident and quirky that I can’t help but smile everytime he spits a bar!
This is gonna be such a wild comparison, but did ya’ll ever watch the show peace maker? And the character vigilante? Well he gives me similar vibes!
Very naturally chaotic (in the best way possible) can never guess where he’s going to step or say next and his projections are swift, fun and explosive all at once and that’s what makes him such a loveable character!
Gustavo obviously has talent for days but it’s the way he executes his said skills that makes him such a force to be reckoned with and across this beat he nails it in the only way he knows how, with extreme eccentricity!
