(MONOCHROME)

Looks like we’ve got a brand new EP on our hands! One by a collective of names I’ve never heard before, further expanding my knowledge in this underground game! So with that being said, let’s talk about it!

This is the new project by MC/Producer Jamis. Including 6 tracks, 13 minutes of content, and one producer feature in -JAZZFLEEMARKET and an MC feature in -Moses Excelsior.

I’ll be honest, when I first heard this and even on my second listen, I felt a strong ‘Al Divino’ splash vibe to this record. It’s heavily experimental with a ton of manipulated beats, intense samples, and unpredictable approaches that keep you guessing the whole record!

This is the kind of style that’s right up my alley, that ‘noise/ambient/splash’ style that has become at the forefront of the indie scene for a while now. Even though that inspiration has been over-saturated, that doesn’t mean all can do it justice, but you can call Jami’s the underground Superman because his specific league is definitely doing justice!

Although this project is only 13 minutes long, it makes up for the time with absolutely savage and cutthroat production and instrumentation that will leave you feeling like you just had an acid trip! It’s brash, vivid, raw, and in your face in the best ways possible!

If I had to name a favourite track, I’d have to give it to the intro track ‘JUNKBAG’. I love that manipulated vocal harmony on loop with those aggressive, what sounds like synth chords, and glitch snippets that make this a whirlwind of a track with a lot of extreme and funny little skits added in the track, like mimicking deep throat!

I couldn’t think of a perfect intro for an album of this calibre, and that same energy is continued throughout! You won’t find a more intense 13 minutes, I’ll tell you that much!

As far as the MC work goes, to complement said production, of course, the ‘splash freelance’ style was to be expected, but he does it well! He sounds confident and precise with his wordplay!

He’s got fearless flow, high energy and enthusiasm as well as a unique cadence that separates him from most!

I love his complex lyricism over this EP. He has a mysterious and almost cryptic style of pen game where you really have to pay attention to the lyrics to understand them! Besides some parts like his R.I.P to Ozzy and Hulk, that was pretty self-explanatory, but a lot of the album I had to play back and try to understand what he meant!

AS stated, he has one feature on this album, and with that man, he has great chemistry! They both kill the track, bringing their own unique energy and style, which complemented the beat well!

Speaking of real quick, that final track and the way it left the audience guessing as to what will come next was GENIUS! A real ambient/atmospheric track to close the record off!

This EP was amazing! It was fun, colourful, brash and unforgiving, and for only 13 minutes, what else would you expect?
