(Bulletproof Chicken)

You know, this whole album vibe makes me think of Breaking Bad and Gus’s ‘Los Pollos Hermanos’. Seeing the album cover and the name, it just brings me straight to that, and no doubt after listening to this, it probably could be the soundtrack to that chain! Anyway, back to the album!

This is the brand new project between two of the biggest names in the underground right now: MC CRIMEAPPLE and Producer VDON. Together, they drop a fresh 12 tracks with 35 minutes and featuring the likes of

-T.F

-Primo Profit

-Bruiser Wolf

Now, I did do a singles review on their promotion track ‘Victor Charlie’, and after that, I knew this was going to be something special, and I was right.

To start with the production, what we have here is VDON showcasing his grimy, raw, and immersive techniques by creating this surreal atmosphere that is so cutthroat it can slice your ears if you’re not careful!

From the opening track, you get that intimate and muddy instrumentation that is equal parts minimal and cinematic! Being able to utilise less to create more is a technique (when done right) that can’t be beaten, and you can guarantee whenever he’s on the case, it’s always going to be done right!

Let’s use the song ‘4.99 Special’ as an example. We have those delicate and hypnotic keys on loop that just mesmerise the mind! We also have these infectious drums as well as these subtle strings that give this track an extra layer of seasoning!

Or even the track ‘Scrape The Pot’, the intro track with those jazz element piano keys that sound groovy and funky all in one! As well as a light vocal snippet in the background and some of the most rock and roll drums I’ve heard this year! Caught myself rocking my head to the rhythm of the drums until the song was over!

Even the track ‘Groundhogs Day’ which takes a more melodic tune with those methodical strings and slow-paced drums and luscious keys. This is one of those ‘smoke a fat blunt to’ tracks that almost feels like a slight break from that hardcore shit since it’s located about halfway through the album!

All this to say that VDON once again flexes his talent in delivering any kind of style and atmosphere to the tracks. If he wants to go gutter, he will make you mean-mug the world! If he wants to go stripped back, he’ll have your soul doing a detox!

Exceptional quality combined with the mind of a genius. Another home run!

Now onto the second part of the team, we have CRIME. The man who has been steadily building a solid 2025 discography with his album with DJ SKIZZ being my favourite to date (until now) because, as expected, he’s come to outdo himself and he’s done just that!

This is the classical, savage CRIME. The one that’s here to kill and take no names. He’s never sounded smoother and yet never sounded more lethal! That’s the scary part about CRIME, he’s the perfect balance of precision and power; he can sound more intricate than your favourite rappers while using his words to paint the most gritty and impactful stories and situations that make you feel like you’re listening to a cinematic masterpiece come to life in your headphones!

Sharp lyricism, infinite charisma, and aura so strong he makes every verse sound somehow better than the last and also completely effortless.

One of my favourite lines of his off the song ‘Railroad Avenue’ where he goes ‘Need to be restrained inside the booth. I’m a retard’ that line definitely stood out to me as one of countless fluent puns and one-liners that he drops across this project to keep the audience engaged and entertained!

I also love the use of limited features. He knows he doesn’t need a whole busload of features to make an album pop! Just a few key names to spark the track into flames and that’s exactly what they bring to the table! Each name has their own unique style and aura and provides something different to the tracks while maintaining a strong chemistry with CRIME!

I had no hesitations about this album. These two together were bound to be a modern classic and it was! Make sure you go listen to this killer record and support the underground!
