Once again, we are back with what feels like the most competitive brotherly battle in the game as we speak. That being ‘P-Ro Vs G-Fam Black’, who can beat who with month-to-month drops?
I’ve tried my best to review each man’s drops as they come every month, and it’s been a blast! Both men have released countless ‘AOTY’ contenders, and neither has missed the mark yet, and it seems the luck continues on this album as well! Let’s get into it!
This is the September drop by MC P-Ro, and this time producing is KNG Bondalero, who has been on a run of his own this year as well! Together, they drop ten tracks with features from
-G-Fam Black
-James Mitchell
-KNG Bondalero
-Tali Rodriguez
-Blazewun
A lot of the same expected names on this project as the last handful, and for obvious reasons! (If it’s not broken, don’t fix it), the chemistry is there, so why bother?
Across this album, I feel we are hearing P-Ro in his final stretches, high confidence phase of the marathon! Of course, he’ll never lose or misplace his sharpened skills and abilities, but compared to the ones that came before, I hear more bragging and flexing in his tones than normal (and for good reason).
He’s been out working everyone in the game right now. Everyone wants to ride Boldy’s dick for his consistency when most of the time he sounds the same dragging voice and production across his records!
While P-Ro every month is redefining himself, trying to bring a new sound, different producers, and a fresh structure to his discography for 2025, and people don’t even give a look twice! Well, this time he ain’t coming in humble, he’s here for bodies!
Across this 30 minutes, he’s combining raw skill and deadly pen game with a borderline cocky demeanour that is used to drill into the audience and any haters ‘I’m the one doing laps around the field, ya’ll are still taking water breaks’, and it’s sweet to hear!
I love to hear this man destroy you on the mic and then mock you for being so ass in the first place. No point being humble if the world doesn’t appreciate the effort you’re putting in anyway, so fuck it, tear the culture a new one, and that’s exactly what he’s doing on this record!
Same relentless flow and intensity. Same brilliant technique and flow, and still the same trademark aggressive delivery and cadence that makes him such a captivating player to begin with!
As mentioned above, he’s back with his regular crew who, like clockwork at this point, sync with him as if they all share one brain, all the same thoughts, and as they always have, help elevate the emotions and enthusiasm of the overall record!
As far as KNG is concerned! He’s bringing his famous larger-than-life cinema-tics to the centre stage with this one! Whenever he’s in charge of production, it makes you feel like you’re experiencing a film score that is surreal and high-end in nature!
Like the track ‘Everywhere’, for example. It has those grand, waving chords, sci-fi notes in the background, and heavy drums with plucked strings! This is the type of music I’d expect to hear in a Tarantino or Guy Ritchie film! It’s intense and thrilling!
Or what about the track ‘Kick Rocks’, which sounds straight out of a B-side horror movie turned into rap!
You’ve got those haunting keys in a hypnotic, repetitive motion! Alongside some groovy, what sounds like manipulated keyboard, sounded in a more ambient atmosphere!
This is what I’d expect werewolves would listen to at midnight if they fucked with hip-hop!
Then on tracks like ‘Do Not Disturb’, we have KNG going back to his traditional, no-nonsense approach to the beat with a swaying loop and some minimalistic drums! Going back to the old-school style, no fancy shit or gimmicks, just straight, raw underground hip-hop.
I love the fact P-Ro chose this man for the production because, just like himself, he hasn’t missed either, and together they proved just how monstrous they can be!
Make sure you don’t fuck around and sleep on this album!
