(Position Of Power)

Man, this is a record that, even though it was recently dropped, has gained the traction and momentum of a sonic juggernaut. This record proves that with proper promotion and marketing, you can gain traction big enough for the whole culture to pay attention! Let’s talk about it!

This is the brand-new album by MC Stvck Gambino, with producers

-MonstarWeMC

-Lavish

-Araabmuzik

-Yaya

-Young Devante

And features the likes of

-Jrell Moore

-Tragedy Monroe

-Fatboi Dash

-ESSS

-Lil Dev

-Make Amillion

-S.J. Dub

-JYDMONDS

And this album is definitely standing out amongst the rest. Why? Well, for starters, the production feels a lot more lavish and ‘mainstream’ in execution than the rest. This is definitely an album I’d expect to hear released under a million-dollar label, then an underground release (which isn’t a bad thing), but an observation based on the overall sound of the record!

For example, the first official track ‘Cartier Talk’ literally feels like a Nipsey Hussle or YG-type track with that bombastic instrumentation and that glorified vocal chorus!

I had to remind myself that I was listening to the new underground release rather than a high-profile one! Very interesting sound!

Or even if you want to investigate the track ‘Traumatized’, where again we have elements such as that light auto-tune/modern RnB chorus! Combined with those atmospheric, spacey chords, light harmony vocal snippets in the background with those infectious drums!

Reminds me of a beat someone like Future would rap over! And the thing is, these beats aren’t bad in most cases; it’s the shitty MC that’s the problem with these mainstream songs (but that’s definitely not the case here).

We also have tracks like ‘Power and Respect’, which is produced by the legendary AraabMuzik, and he provides one of the album’s most mellow and mesmerising tracks! You’ve got those delicate piano keys, sharp sounds in the background, and some hypnotic drum beats that force you to move your neck!

I love how minimal and yet powerful this track is! Especially with the performance by Stvckz!

This album is full of incredible production by a host of different underground giants that come together to create a cohesive sound that is equal parts devastating and beautiful!

Speaking of that fine balance, we have the man himself, Stvckz, who is someone I’m new to on this album but one who has impressed me in every way possible!

While I was listening to this record, I noticed that this man has incredible conviction across the verses he would spit. I felt his passion and his crisp delivery and sharp pen game with his no-nonsense energy and deliberate execution of dope phrases and vivid imagery!

He navigates that high-end, mainstream style production like a fucking natural. He brings a refreshing level of savagery over an otherwise cinematic and compelling score provided! It’s like DMX walking into a Victorian-era ballroom! A standout in the most direct of ways!

I can’t help but respect his level of directness and professionalism across the album. I love to hear his precise flow as well as the way he was able to manipulate the words to fit his narrative and make sure every single breath he took on the track fell in line! His level of control over the verses was incredible to witness!

From the features to the production to the verses by the man himself. All of it was the definition of top-notch! Didn’t know what to expect going into it but leaving absolutely blown away!
