(Ravencroft)

I don’t even know how to describe these two men’s progress this year anymore. At first listen to both, I was impressed and waiting to see more. As both men continued in their respective roles in the game, they both continued to rise and evolve, and just when I thought I had heard their creative peaks, they come out with this! I have no words to say, but I’m going to do my best to write down how I feel about this because this record is the definitive answer for NEXT LEVEL.

This right here is the brand-new album between MC Words and Producer Hi-Q, and together they dropped a fresh 17 tracks with the likes of:

– J. Roberts

-Shark The SOB

-Jake Haw

-B1 The Architect

-Joey B Toonz

-Halfcut

-Sayzee

-White Lie

-I.N.F

-Matt Maddox

A terrific cast of MC’s that suit what ended up being an absolutely terrifying and tragic experience full of fear, violence, and enough haunting sounds and lyrics to keep you up at night for the next few days!

I think this time around I’m going to start with Words. He has impressed me in the past with me buying his last few records on Bandcamp (this one soon to be added), and as good as they were, this is a whole different beast entirely! We see Words showcase his more savage and killer instincts with him talking about (in graphic detail) topics of:

-Murder

-Violence

-Trauma

-Mental Illness and more.

This feels like if Dexter went crazy, snapped, and decided to make a hip-hop record! Every single song is explicit and feels like you’re listening to the diary of a madman as he writes down all his thoughts, impulses, and sickening compulsive tendencies that he’d like to put into action!

Although a lot of the lyrics are over the top in an obvious way, there are moments where I wonder what is fiction or reality with his life experiences. Actions he may or may not have committed in his life until now to help embellish the contents of this record!

Aside from the actual content, he hasn’t sounded more heavy, more destructive, and sharp with his bloody pen games.

His flow is raw, in your face, and distinctive, and his chilling, cold-blooded charisma is flooding across each of the songs! He’s relentless and unapologetic to the maximum degree; he doesn’t care who he offends or pisses off with this record; he’s just getting himself heard!

We also have the aforementioned crew of MC’s that are just as (if not more) twisted as he is and are able to contend with and stand toe-to-toe with words in this hellish atmosphere that he’s created on this record!

Every feature has a purpose for being there, and each one helps elevate the selected tracks to new heights!

When we talk about the hellish nature of the record, we also have to talk about Hi-Q and his production. To say I was shocked with his work on here would be an understatement! I think I said in the last review I did of his, saying that I was scared to imagine what he’s going to sound like the next time we see him, and now we know! And turns out I had every right to be shit scared because he goes absolutely KILLER on the beats!

Combing aspects of film/TV footage, looped vocal samples, and minimal boom-bap-flavoured beats, we hear Hi-Q bring his own batch of devastatingly chilling production that brings out the isolation, confusion, and true sense of fear out of the listeners, leaving them to re-think their lives afterwards!

I was legitimately listening to this record for the first time on my lunch break at work and felt myself slipping into a delirious mental state just hearing the instrumentals and their darkness!

There’s not a single boring track on this album, whether we are talking about tracks like

‘Devils, Demons & Voices’ which has this absolutely eerie introduction with those sound effects that sound like someone talking backwards, true exorcist style! The track doesn’t progress any easier with those haunting keys and that uncomfortable vocal loop that remains over the whole track!

We can talk about the track ‘Kasady’s Kitchen CookBook’ which has a more Halloween 80’s Slasher flick soundtrack vibes! With those fast paced strings in the intro that sounds equal parts chaotic and cinematic!

As the song progresses you hear those same chaotic strings on loop and some build up keys and heavy drums that remind me of a Godzilla scene!

I don’t want to give any more tracks away because this album sounds and writes like a sickening grotesque artwork that you’d find in a museum. The type that’s so vivid and graphic that it can’t be shown on TV! This combination is easily the most intense and sinister I’ve heard all year and I can’t imagine anyone topping that! Give this record a listen NOW!
