One thing I love to prioritise over anything else is originality and creativity. Someone who creates their own lane paved paths for others to follow, and I feel this man does that for the culture. After covering his past projects, he left me with a curiosity of what’s to come, and now I get to find out! Let’s talk about it!
This is the brand-new single by MC Jasz Official and Producer Renaissance Tone (a frequent collaborator for those in the know), and one that gets me hyped every single time. We have on this one just over three minutes of content that is sure to make you feel some kind of way!
Firstly, this track starts off beautifully with those vocal lines that kind of remind me of a mix between Kendrick & Frank Ocean, but it’s unlike any hip-hop track intro I’ve heard before! After the track fully unravels, we get this absolutely gorgeous loop consisting of these old-school second-form vocal harmonies that have an angelic quality to it as it loops throughout the song!
Accompanying this is some groovy plucked strings, some luscious piano keys, that all come together into this finely crafted piece of music that literally gave me goosebumps! I could literally listen to this instrumental for hours straight without getting sick of it!
As far as the MC work goes, as per usual, Jasz hits the absolute jackpot with his vocal interpretations, his fluency, unique flow, and introspective lyricism that really sets him apart from everyone else in the game! As I said, originality and creativity are my two most favourable qualities in an artist, and he presents these in spades every time he’s on the mic, and today is no different!
Across this track, he showcases such a versatile range in techniques that it’s insane. Some parts he sounds like bearing his immediate thoughts into the mic. Other times he sounds freelance and moving wherever he pleases verbally. Then, in a blink of an eye, he can maintain a more traditional pace, staying next to the beat and sticking to the rhythm in uniform.
It’s not only these factors that make him so memorable; it’s the weight of his lyricism and the way he captures your imagination with his construct of bars and puns, one-liners, you name it; he can do it all from vivid storytelling to the most compelling brash bars you’ve heard in your life!
Trust me, this is one for the record books! It doesn’t sound like your everyday trends BECAUSE IT SHOULDN’T. Following a trend is fine, but don’t expect to be memorable doing so; this is for those who appreciate artistry, and that’s exactly what these two men are!
