Criminal Kind (Violent By Design)

It seems this year is full of surprises. People teaming up I never would have expected. If hip hop was a bingo card, then this would be one of the most shocking games in recent memory. With that in mind, let’s go!

This is the brand-new single by MC Recognise Ali and producer Giallo Point, and together they rock this bombastic 2 minutes and 39 seconds of pure, raw underground energy that is sure to knock your face off if you ain’t ready to receive it!

Firstly, I want to shout out the album cover and the obvious inspiration made from the legendary ‘Jedi Mind Tricks’. It might seem small to you, but it’s things like these that make acts like this that much more special and powerful because of ‘respect’ for the older generation!

Across this song, we get a lavish instrumental that’s combined with that old-school early 2000s hip hop fusion with those rhythmic drum patterns, plucked strings, and that consistently running synth chord progression that doesn’t ever break!

Every 10 seconds or so, there’s this slight vocal snippet that’s added layered into the beat, which is also a dope addition to the record!

Again, this just feels like, well, literally something you’d hear on ‘Jedi Mind Tricks’ or ‘Army Of The Pharaohs’. They are taking the best inspiration from the past and mixing it with the present to create their own original dope sound, and that’s why Giallo is such a fantastic producer!

Speaking of dope and original, we have Recognise! This man, ever since I first discovered him, has left me stunned and impressed every step of the way. A man with a storied discography and skills far beyond most of the game, he’s always an exciting name to check out. From his last album he dropped earlier this year to now, he just doesn’t miss!

On this track, we see Ali’s trademark in your face bars, his ruthless precision, and fantastic pen game. He rhymes with confidence, knowing that he’s one of the top dogs in the game, and you can hear it in his pronunciations and rhythm! I hear the same reminiscent flow from that classic late 90s and 2000s era as he brings that cold-hearted, competitive, and lines full of conviction and passion just like the artists we grew up listening to had!

I will never get tired of hearing Ali rap on a beat, especially with someone as powerful as Giallo? That’s a double shot of power that cases complete overkill.

Make sure you all go check this one out! If this is a sign of things to come (which I have no doubt it is), then we are ready to experience quite possibly a new contender for ‘AOTY’ very soon! Link below!
