The more I think about it, I don’t know how many artists have the versatility of production like this man has. From the first album I reviewed of his till now, it’s like night and day. He ain’t locked down to one type of sound, and that shows complexity that not everyone has! Now he’s back with one of the most underrated producers in the game right now, an unprecedented duo! Let’s go!
This is the brand-new album by MC Reek Osama and Producer Bop Phrases! Together, they drop a solid 10 tracks, 23 minutes, and features from
-WhoisBravy
-067Red
-BeenOfficialLord
-Hank Dope
An absolute stacked roster to work with and one that matches the aesthetic of Reek completely!
I want to start off by highlighting the production because the last couple of albums I covered of his specifically -Welfare Island & -Perseus are some of my most revered of last year. The way he’s able to tell a story with his instrumentation and create a cinematic experience is second to none, and we see him back doing the same thing again here!
Across these 10 tracks, we hear him utilising a more classical x gritty boom bap atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re listening to an old-school montage of the worst street corner in your area! The tragedies, the violence, the tension, and the overall story of the culture can be felt in just these 23 minutes because of how masterful he is behind the beats.
If I had to choose two of my favourite beats, it would have to be -No More. This track has such a gorgeous melody to it that reminds me of the late 70s or early 80s; it’s got a soul meets P-Funk vibe to it with those enchanted synth chords, lively piano keys, and some light drums that subtly go off in the background.
Also, can’t ignore the phenomenal BeenOfficialLord verse! He once again KILLS the competition! Incredible showing.
And there’s the track -Ensemble. This one has this mysterious meets acoustic feel to it with those repetitive chord progressions combined with the bass and this one continuous string that has a wavy effect to it!
I also love how they did a switch-up tone for the transition to prepare for 067Red, who, as per usual, dominated the track! Great work by the man— a short yet combustible verse to end the track on!
When we discuss the MC work, we have to bring up Reek’s evolution since early 2025. I can’t count how many drops he’s had since that first one, but the fact is he’s not scared to experiment and try out a variety of influences that most won’t touch! I still remember last year how he dropped like three or four in a row from each other! He was on an untouchable run, and now that he’s back, he’s here to regain his throne!
On this tape, he sounds as confident and scummy as ever! He’s showcasing his trademark relentless flow, severe performances with his deadly precise movements and wordplay. He has a unique type of penmanship that makes him one of the most compelling users of street poetry in the game right now!
It’s because he sounds so fucking convincing when he raps. You can tell he’s lived through the shit he’s talked about and is a real student of the game!
From his flow to his natural dominant charisma to the way he handles himself across the beats, he’s the real deal and has been ever since I discovered him. Hearing him on tracks with these guys makes me so happy because of the chemistry they hold! Of course, you have history with the likes of Hank Dope, but also hearing him side by side with 067 or BeenOffical or WhoIsBravy, they all match his energy and help elevate the tracks in question!
