(4 And A Baby)

can’t lie, my one and only brief experience with the ‘white’ was pretty underwhelming. It just felt like a slightly better kush. I don’t think that’s what’s mean to happen so safe to say I got a dud haha.

But with that in mind, I always find it intriguing to hear conceptual stories and records about this subject matter and see what kind of spin the artist in question puts on it and so we are able to find out together just how well this was done!

This is the brand album by MC Digi Scale Donnatella and Producer Pounds448 and together they drop this 8 track, 23 minute experience with the likes of

-Big Tony

-Cal Wayne

-Max Marciano

-Melanie Rutherford

And I’ll be real. The main appeal I found on this album is that it felt like a transport to the early 2000’s back to the original creators of the ‘trap’ genre. So of course the three kings

-Gucci Mane

-T.I

-Young Jeezy

Back when Trap was real, authentically violent and powerful before it became mainstream and watered down! (You know the era I’m talking about) and this album feels like a return to that original gritty sonic behaviour.

From the combination of those delicate piano chords, those thudding drum beats, trademark 808 sounds a collection of sharp guitar strings that helps give this album that ‘grand’ effect.

It’s been so long that I’ve heard a genuine new trap album that it had me geeking. Hearing those bombastic influences, hearing both Pounds and Digi pay homage to the classic era made me very happy and I was surprised to hear!

And so, as it was back in the glory days this album sounds like a crime documentary turned audio. It’s thrilling, it’s heavy, it’s dangerous and full of exciting suspense and elements that it leaves you on the edge of your seat while listening!

I love its omnibus vibe. It feels like the sonic equivalent of danger around the corner with each track that’s played. You can’t pay for this kind of atmosphere, it’s something you either have or don’t and these guys definitely have IT.

If the production is rooted in the OG trap era then that only speaks further volumes to Digi because he has the same ability to bring out that authentic gangster mentality that we hear from the 3 kings back in their prime. Anyone who fucks with trap (or what it use to be) understands what I mean and it’s so glorious to hear it!

Across this tape we hear Digi come strong with those intense and dominating vocals that is equal parts wavy and sharp! He has stuff on his mind and he’s gonna force you to hear him whether you want to or not! He has the ability to captivate the audience with his gift of gab when he flexes his ‘Alphabet Aerobics’

The way he performs he’s the type of guy who can hold down a whole album with just his solo effort. But when he does have features he brings a certain level of chemistry and pairing that it ignites the track and makes it feel 10x stronger!

If I had to go on a limb and choose a favourite track it would have to be -Goodyear Blimp this song had me pumped! Reminded me of Jeezy ‘Thug Motivation 101’ days! Digi holding the fort down solo with his powerful verses and that vocal snippet in the background of the instrumental that sounds so fucking familiar that I couldn’t quite put my finger on!

All in all, this is an album you don’t want to sleep on. If you have nostalgia on the REAL era of Trap then this man is the return but with his own modern individual twist! These two men together create magic that shouldn’t go unnoticed! Link below!
