(Calling All Corpses)

So, leading up to the release of ‘Mid Death Crisis’, it inspired me to go back on some of the albums I didn’t dive into as hard as I did with the first few in his discography that I fell in love with as a teenager, and that’s when I re discovered this one, and honestly, after properly listening to it, this might be in my top 5 Wednesday 13 albums.

So, this is the 2019 release by Horror Punk legend Wednesday 13, who over the years has become infamous with his many projects under different aliases, such as:

-Maniac Spider Trash

-Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13

-Bourbon Crow

-Gunfire 76

-Murderdolls

And his most ongoing project, this one Wednesday 13, and as mentioned above, a lot of his earlier work, such as:

-Transylvania 90210 and Skeletons, were my favourite albums on repeat, but now I’ve discovered this one, and honestly, it goes right up there!

This album’s first official track, ‘I Wanna Be Cremated’, has this project off to an infectiously good start with a tongue-in-cheek Punk anthem talking about, as the song states, how he wants to be cremated.

The overall aura, nostalgia of the 90s, and punk/horror atmosphere continues on to every track after that, continuing with ‘Ghoul Of My Dreams’, which sounds like if Green Day had died, become zombies, and started playing a concert of the living dead because it’s got that mainstream feel to the instrumentation but with the trademark dark and twisted lyrical themes as Wednesday has made a career writing about!

The more I dive into this project, it becomes obvious why upon re discovery I love this album so much; it’s because (arguably) it’s the most mainstream punk-sounding Wednesday album (instrumentally) speaking. Most of his other albums have a more ‘Metal’ approach, and while I love those as well, there’s something wholesome and fun about hearing 13 put his trademark twisted themes and imagery onto a bed of infectious, anthem-worthy Punk tracks, and it makes the whole album a blast to listen to!

Far from a one-hit wonder, Wednesday 13 decided to have fun with this one and dive headfirst into the punk-inspired aspect and produce banger after banger that will surely stand the test of time! Can’t wait for his new album!

(Rectification)

The dictionary definition of Rectification is ‘The Action Of Putting Something Right’, but in my definition, it means Chainsaw Holiday has a kick-ass new single, so let’s fucking talk about it!

This is the latest single by the band with whom I’ve had dealings for a bit now, before I even made this website. A fantastic band on the uprise, and with this latest single, I can’t imagine how they wouldn’t be on the rise because this is 3 minutes and 50, some of the most kick-ass shit I’ve heard all year!

From the start of the song, you hear that 80’s Classic/Thrash Metal influence with those fast-paced guitar patterns, delicious drums, and vocals that remind me of a mix of Joey Belladonna’s Anthrax and David Coverdale’s White Snake.

This track feels like a Time Machine to the golden era; it’s so smooth, hard-hitting, and fucking infectious instrumentation that only these boys could pull off!

I also love how just over halfway through the song has a momentary slowdown as we hear a subtle pause on the gas before the track is pushed back into its golden rhythm!

I’m telling you this track is absolutely amazing, and any Rock/Metal head of all ages will definitely fall for this one! Another amazing song by an amazing band!

(My Queen)

At this point, should we just give the crown to Snotty? I swear he’s appeared in every hit single to come out in 2025, and that’s not even including his own shit! Single after single, and he’s still on the throttle!

This time around, he’s back with a song ‘My Queen’ produced by Goodphella. It’s 2 minutes and 6 seconds and features one of the most soulful melody loops I’ve ever heard. It features what sounds like an a cappella Beatles chorus sample slowed down with a tint of an echo, and the way it’s mixed and produced makes it sound so fucking smooth and relaxing that I can’t help but let my imagination run wild and notice my stress go along with it!

Snotty lyrically has gone back to his more sentimental and personal side. Talking this time about a woman he loves, this is a rap love song towards her.

On this track, he sounds relaxed, confident, and love-struck. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this specific side of him before, but as usual, emotions and feelings to the side, it doesn’t take away from his lyrical ability and the fact he’s one of the best going in the underground.

Another affectionate and introspective track by Snotty. I have a feeling he’s either going to release one ‘softer’ or ‘toned down’ album and one normal grime album. Or one long album expressing both sides of him. Either way, every new single is just more excitement for a possible album drop, and I know it will be DOPE!

(Guerilla Dynasty 3)

You know what’s rarer than a decent sequel? A quality TRILOGY. It’s hard enough for some to release a single quality album without trying their hand at 3, but when you have the chemistry and power these two have, it’s damn near impossible to think of taking an L.

This is the third in the ‘Guerilla Dynasty’ series featuring rapper Recognize Ali and producer Stu Bangas, and collectively they’ve been tearing the underground apart and rebuilding it to their own standards. This time around they feature the likes of:

-SageInfinite

-Born Unique

-Lord Goat

-DJ TMB

-Verbal Kent

-A-F-R-O

-Blacastan (R.I.P.)

-Tone Spliff

-Boob Bronx

-DJ Tray

And with these powerhouse affiliates, this duo creates one of the biggest explosions of 2025, and everyone in the game should be taking notice.

The production on this one is hard, heavy, and unforgettably unforgiving. It’s not enough that they’ve been slaughtering the game with their last two releases, but somehow Stu has found a way to make his beats even more raw, crisper, more grimey, and even more devastating. This is the kind of production you listen to, then go off and act wild after because of the chaotic energy this record puts into your soul!

The one quality I feel Stu has that many producers fall flat on is the ability to incorporate and utilise the talents of the features and craft sounds and atmospheres that would suit them best to make each feature track not only a mere ‘song’ but a whole ‘experience.’

Each track is tailor-made for the guests and chosen accordingly depending on who’s on. It’s this quality that’s made him such a titan in the industry, and it really shows in this one as well!

Of course, the partner in crime Ali hasn’t lost any shred of killer instinct, lethal lyricism, or deadly penmanship. Across this project, he’s as raw as he’s ever been; he’s like a man possessed across these beats and spits some of the hardest shit you’ve heard all year.

From each beat, sound, and second, he’s always on point. His aggressive nature makes his bars feel 500 pounds, and listeners have no choice but to look a certain way after each verse due to just how ridiculous his ability is!

Ali is at the point now where features don’t faze him in the least. You can put anyone and everyone on the track with him, and he ain’t gonna fret. He’s gonna stand his own and prove why he’s been killing it in the game the last few years!

Overall, as unlikely as it can be to accomplish, the duo has created the perfect trilogy! Nothing but the toughest music you’ve heard in 2025!

(Queens)

I feel this year compared to 2024 has a lot more single drops. Not that I’m complaining, but it’s a solid observation from all the reviews I do! Either way, new single, let’s talk about it!

This is the latest by Jus Daze! Featuring two of my main guys, the first being the producer ‘Brutal Caesar’ and the second being the cuts by legendary Tone Spliff! A duo that has worked on many projects together, and now together with Jus, this trio couldn’t lose it; they tried!

Starting with the beat. This one feels very golden 90’s era East Coast Hip Hop! Considering the song is called ‘Queens’, it makes sense they would pay homage to that sound and style. If that wasn’t dope enough, you add Tone to spice it up, and this ends up sounding exactly, if not better, than some of the best era instrumentals! Real Mobb Deep shit!

As far as the rapping goes, Jus, just like the beat, pays homage lyrically to all the best artists who helped make ‘Queens’ what it is. My favourite being ‘A Tribe Called Quest’.

His delivery on the beat is flawless, great flow, penmanship is solid, and a great lyrical tribute to the artists of the past and present. He has a raw, crisp, and confident cadence and tone, the kind of proud spokesman for the Queens era and the kind of person you’d want representing it!

A short and sweet love letter to Queens. A reminder, especially to the newer generation of the ones who paved the way for us to be where we are now. The old heads know, but for those who don’t, just do yourself a favour and listen to the names dropped by Jus and search them on streaming. Trust me, you’ll be all the better for it!

(Bold Lies)

Talk about a duo I wasn’t expecting to see but one that makes more sense than most!

This is the latest single by 100 MAD artist Ayoo Bigz produced by NAR, but this time around he features the newly recruited Umbrella Collective titan Daniel-Son, and together they make one of the biggest banger singles of the year!

Starting with the beat, it consists of a melodic piano keys loop with a traditional boom Bap beat at its base, and when they come together, it creates a cold, calculated, and cerebral beat that only the best of the best could pull off verses on, and that’s exactly what went down!

The chemistry between the monstrous tone and Kingpin vibe of Ayoo combined with the slick, grimy street raps of Daniel makes for a duo I couldn’t have seen coming but now want a whole album with! They complement each other to the tee.

Like if Wilson Fisk and Luke Cage’s ‘CottonMouth’ did a song together. Two bosses with different lanes still a fire outcome.

For a track I was never expecting on top of that fire beat, this shit was DOPE. I hope we can hear more of them in the future!

(Dead Channel Sky)

As far as pushing the boundaries go, in my opinion, there’s only one other group that really meets the same level of chaos and line stepping as these guys do, and that’s ’Death Grips.’ Otherwise, Clipse are and have been for years on the forefront of innovation and creativity, and now they are back, so let’s talk about it!

This is the brand-new, highly anticipated 2025 release by Clipping. Featuring 20 songs with 53 minutes. Featuring the usual team:

-Daveed Diggs

-William Hutson

-Jonathan Snipes

They used the song ‘Run It’ as their lead single of this album, and it sounded like a late 80’s club song that’s been chaotically mixed and altered. I added it to my playlist the day of. Upon the full album release, I think I can say with some confidence that this is probably their most ‘electronic’ heavy album yet!

Similar to how ‘The Money Store’ is that same statement for Death Grips, so is the case for this one. Almost every song has various elements of electronic inspiration and samples ranging from:

-Techo/Rave/House/Drone/EDM and more

But of course, in true Clipping style, they formatted this record to have a level of ‘uneasy’ feel. Considering their past few albums were horror-based and before that, they did a larger-than-life concept album ‘Splendor & Misery’ about a man trapped in space who falls in love with the ship. Still considered my favourite concept album of all time periods.

Regardless, on this one, every track is so fucking groovy and infectious with the production that it makes you want to dance on the spot (something I thought I’d never say about a Clipping album), but it’s true.

As per usual, they have their use of:

-Distortion

-Noise

-Reverb

-Static as use of modifying the songs to give them that ‘creepy and unsettling’ texture, and for those who are already long-term fans, it will be like background noise to you, but for new fans, it might throw you off guard, but regardless, it’s classic Clipping.

On this album, there are features from:

-Nels Cline

-Tia Nomore

-Cartel Madras

-Aesop Rock

The most exciting names for me are definitely underground lyrical legend Aesop, who as usual flaunts his ridiculous vocabulary on the track and gives us his trademark style.

Overall, this is one of the few long albums out this year that I fuck with from start to finish. Every new album by Clipping provides more ideas and more ways to exhibit the extreme spectrums in music and what ‘hip hop’ can or should sound like. If you want to challenge yourself, then this is the perfect start!

(Big Red Machine)

I know it’s hard to show excitement via text, but this is like early Christmas to me! After his ‘AOTY’ contender earlier this year with ‘War Dogs’, I was hanging on every announcement, and then you add in a concept album about Kane? Get the fuck out of here, this thing is a classic already.

So, this is the BRAND NEW album by rapper K. Burns with 8 new tracks and 18 minutes in length, with producers such as:

-Eddie Word

-ECTO-84

-Don Carrera

-Damn! Dave

-The Standouts

-The PRXSPECT

– Johnny Kilroy

And mixed and mastered by Trudotp.

Right off the bat, let’s talk production because the various list of names listed above have come together to create the perfect blend of tragedy, horror, grime, and thriller to match the aura of what Kane would be like if he did create an album of this magnitude.

The blend of concept/artistry and hip-hop is balanced just right! You get your theatrical cuts from Kane’s career that just bring you back to your childhood nostalgia, but with the added cinematic production behind it, it adds a whole new level of atmosphere that the originals themselves lacked with no score.

Even if you’ve never watched WWE before, I feel this album would be such a fascinating fever dream of a listen hearing the story about a demented and monstrous man and his actions. But as a wrestling fan, this thing should excite and hype up any and all!

K. Burns himself. After his amazing work on ‘War Dogs’, I was curious to see how he’d carry himself on future projects, and as expected, he’s an absolute killer.

He’s choke-slamming rivals left and right, and even when you don’t see him, he’ll hit you with flow and lyricism that will knock your ass down like an avalanche clothesline!

He’s come equipped with the sidewalk slam of penmanship, the big boot of charisma, and if you’re not careful, he’ll even use his secret weapon of cold-blooded cadence, AKA The Tombstone Piledriver.

See No Evil? Well, just look past the flames and don’t let the slow chemicals distort your mind because I can guarantee you K. Burns is ‘The Devil’s Favourite’, and if you try to downplay this modern-day masterpiece, you’ll feel the wrath of ‘The Big Red Monster’.

(The Lead Lined Wall)

After hearing the latest album, Waterr and Machacha, it made me think, and I decided I wanted to go back in time and discover older albums. Then I found this one. So let’s talk about it!

This is a 2022 album by underground rap legend Vega7 The Ronin and, of course, producer Machacha. Together, they put out 9 tracks and 24 minutes in length, with features such as

-Ja’King The Divine

-MTS Music

-Book$

This time around, Mach brings a more hypnotic and methodical approach to his production. These beats sound like I have just smoked a fat blunt, and now the music sounds slowed down and trippy. I love how he’s utilised this slow, cultural, and damn near spiritual instrumentation, which provides the listener with a tranquil experience that most other rap albums don’t!

Once you take a step into this breathtaking soundscape, I guarantee you wouldn’t want to leave.

At this point, the name of Vega7 is concrete. He’s proven himself time and time again with his genius lyricism and vicious rhymes that can go toe to toe with anyone in the industry, underground or otherwise, and this is just another one of those examples, once again.

Never a breath out of place, each word/sentence/bar and verse spoken can be considered the greatest you’ve ever heard, and I’ve got groups of people who can testify to this level of acclaim.

I’ve never heard a wack song by Vega, and I guarantee you haven’t either. He’s a one-of-a-kind artist, and combined with the likes of Mach, you get what I already assumed from the start: a masterpiece!

(201 Degrees)

Talking about another dope duo as we’ve seen so many this year already, but these guys really set the standard that little bit higher, so let’s talk about it!

This is the new collaboration between MC Vincent The Owl and producer Felons, who utilise 19 minutes better than I’ve seen this year so far! Featuring the likes of

-Estee Nack

-Mayhem Lauren

When it comes to the production, this thing is TOUGH! It’s the perfect combination of raw, crisp, dirty, grimey, and masterful all at once. This thing sounds like a David Lynch project if he decided to go the rap route and make some of the sickest, filthy production you’ve heard in a minute!

I also love his use of various genre samples and loops to suit the atmosphere of the specific song! He utilised different instruments and aesthetics that make every track have its own character and personality!

Vincent, who just like an Owl sounds nocturnal in nature. Like someone who spends his time writing his verses in the heart of night, using the darkness to drive his sinister energy, passion, and lethal prowess to have a one-up on everyone else in the game!

Across this project, he doesn’t have a weak moment. Every sentence delivered on track, on beat, and done so smoothly it damn near blends with the production into one!

He has a cold, serious tone and cadence that makes his sound absolutely phenomenal in the studio and fits the category of sounds provided for him as he rocks them out with ease!

I love everything about these 7 tracks. Although it’s only 18 minutes, it feels like 30 in its atmosphere, vibe, and aura. Highly recommend!

Shoutout to the extra production, mix and mastering by PLANTCHAM
