Has this guy not done enough already? I’m seriously considering the idea of crowning him the MVP list of 2026. After all, he’s already dropped (not to mention that ridiculous single with AYOO BIGGZ), and now he’s back AGAIN alongside one of the strongest producers in the game to drop one of the most solid records of the year! Let’s talk about it!
This is the latest album by MC Sayzee and Producer Flu, and together they drop a project with seven tracks, 16 minutes, andAsun Eastwood in the feature lane. This one has that ‘IT’ factor vibe that the culture needed right now!
Both men exceeded my expectations on this one, but let’s start with Sayzee. I felt he really came into his own on this one! (In fact, he has this whole year) but especially on this one. It seems with every new drop his confidence and charisma improve and get stronger. He went from being an underdog in the race to being a frontrunner! As he states in the song -House Fires ‘I don’t get inspired by rappers, I inspire rappers’ and considering his run from last year to now, it’s a statement I can 100% believe!
Across these seven tracks, we hear a more focused, intense, and passionate performance by the man. It’s as if he’s convinced on creating his ‘magnum opus’ on this under-20-minute project based on his sharp lyricism, his immense power and penmanship, as well as his incredible storytelling and bar management and manipulation! He’s on his king shit on this one, and I love to hear it! He’s done being considered the underdog; he’s here to KILL!
Sometimes less is more, and that’s the case here with the one feature! But this ain’t any Joe hip hop; this is one of the dopest names in the game with Asun! Someone who, if you’re not careful, will rap your head clean off! BUT showing his incredible growth and experience, Sayzee is able to hold his own and make this track one of the standouts with their chemistry!
Speaking of someone who in their own lane could be considered MVP status in the production side of things, is my main man Flu! The only artist in the underground that I could visit if I wanted to, which is always dope, but nonetheless one of the most compelling beat makers we have right now! With an already outstanding release with -Money Mogly in ‘The Jungle Book’, he’s looking to outdo himself yet again, and this is a pretty safe bet that he has!
I love the cinematic and surreal sounds on this one. It has this boom-bap meets classical atmosphere to it that has this haunting effect to it that I can’t deny!
Whether we are talking about tracks like -Hit List that has those long and darkly elegant chords, eerie piano keys, and thudding drums that force you to mean-mug the world! This track had me thinking of my local stores as business opportunities ‘if you know, you know’— a truly masterful instrumental!
There’s tracks like -Do Better which has a different level of raw with these misleadingly delicate piano keys subtly in the background alongside some sharp bass, what sounds like a high-pitch choir vocals in the background, and someone skeletal drums that help provide a sort of sonic skeleton to the whole track!
(And of course, Asun’s ridiculous performance)
Hell, we can talk about the track -Dusty Pellets which returns to that classical vibe. There’s those old-school vocal loops at the start of the song that evolve into those sharp strings, plucked chords, and a more rhythmic drum patterns that when combined create a minimal yet hard-hitting track that feels like I’m transported to 1970’s Italy!
These two are a match made in underground heaven (or hell depending on which vibe you’re going for), two outstanding names in their own lanes, and now coming together for this epic drop that is sure to impress everyone! Make sure you check it out now!
