It’s time to discover yet another talent. A man who I just found out is connected with a lot of people I fuck with myself! Men who have shown their own originality and creativity in this rap game, and so it’s gotten me that much more excited for what this man has up his sleeve, and now that I’ve actually heard the album, I can safely say it’s one that I want everyone at home to check out as well! Let’s talk about it.
This is the brand-new album by MC Noir Red with production from the likes of
– Pootie
– Koga Yokai
– Roper Williams
– D Dand
And MC’s are – Lungs – Freddy Stone
And right off the bat, I love what seems to be a general concept of ‘The Tunnel’, which has a light and subtle glare over the whole album. Some concepts can feel sickeningly forced, which can ruin the enjoyment of an album, but in this case, it feels like it’s just looming around casually, reminding the audience what this album is about!
But that aside, if we discuss the MC side of things, we hear a man who I can hear right away the amount of heart he has inside of him. You can hear the passion and conviction that he incorporates into his music, which makes every word he spits feel that much more important and worthwhile.
I love when certain artists have attributes like this! When they wear their heart on their sleeve and let their natural charisma do the talking!
Each song has a steady pace filled with a lot of fun lyricism that features pop culture references and fun puns from video games to anime and everything in between! Lyrics that are sure to resonate with the current and old generations!
I also love his personal pacing. Depending on the song, he will drop a short verse and let the beat ride; others, he’ll spit until the very end. It might seem like a small detail to you, but it proves just how free he feels on the tracks, which I love to hear. Add to that his articulate nature, his smooth flow, and his incredible chemistry with the few names on here, and it makes him one of the more interesting artists I’ve discovered lately!
As far as the production goes, I’d say it follows the same free-flowing style as the MC work. It feels introspective, ambient, and damn near atmospheric in every sense of the word. Even on the track -Bong Water Bubble Bath, we literally have a bong being ripped towards the end of the track!
No idea is too out there or green for this album, as they just work on vibes, and using that metric, we are graced with some of the most vibrant music you could ask for!
From tracks like -Big Trouble In Little China, with those Asian-inspired plucked strings that later evolved into additions of methodically paced drums and some light bass and what sounds like a distorted vocal choir in the deep background!
You’ve got the track -Change Of Heart, which has one of the more light feels with those jazz-inspired piano chords going off in that delicate loop that features some groovy bass and what sounds like just a small hit of a hi-hat in the background. Definitely one of the more minimal tracks but also one of the most beautiful!
Of course, the opening verse with -Lungs kicks the song off fast!
We even have the song -Dr Kelp, which has a combination of swaying chord progressions that have an almost sci-fi effect to them, that has this subtle angelic vocal harmonies and some rhythmic drums that help wrap up this song together! This might be one of the most groovy tracks on the album, especially because it’s based on the greatest show of all time in -SpongeBob, and they even show that scene where they deliver the pizza and SpongeBob forgot the drink, and that fish spazzes at him!
Not to mention Freddy’s ridiculous verse over the track!
I can’t even front, this album is one of the more enjoyable listening experiences I had this year. It’s full of personality, memorable production, and crisp performance that will definitely have me on the radar for what he drops next! The link is below, check it out now!
