Sometimes it takes a break from a certain artist to re discover their magic. It’s been months since I last heard this man’s music. A man I’ve respected since I first found out about him and haven’t gone back. He’s back with an MC I’m not familiar with, but if he’s associated with this producer, he’s bound to be talented! Rules of the land!
This is the brand-new album by notorious producer Wino Willy and MC Ronday, and together they drop a dynamic 11 tracks with 25 minutes of footage! Featuring
– Imani Vonshá
– OLE MAN STOGIE
– Matt Paige
– Wakai
– Joe Scott
And with this small handful of names, we have the premise for an album that feels spiritual in nature. Let’s talk about why!
I feel like I should discuss the newcomer (to me) in the MC and how he manifests himself over these marvellous instrumentals!
His energy feels otherworldly in a godly way. You can tell he’s actually syncing with the music itself and baring his soul and drawing people in like an old-school testament apostle trying to save the masses!
This man doesn’t waste a single second of the 25 minutes provided. Whether that be in the way of coordination of when to drop his rhymes and when to let the beat ride. In his fusion of free-lance meets precise flow or whether it be in his passionate pursuit for real raps that make you feel a certain way when you hear his words! I’d say his words feel less heavy like bricks and more precious like rare gems!
I also love how he meshes with the various features. None of them I’m familiar with, but they all come correct with rhythmic and strong verses that not only push the record higher but work well chemistry-wise with the main MC. Nothing worse than listening to a song where the main artist and the guest don’t match or mix. Ruins the listening experience!
If I had to highlight a specific guest feature, it would have to beImani’s performance on “Louisiana’s Good,” she absolutely nailed and brought goosebumps to I’m sure all the listeners at home!
Speaking of goosebumps, we have Wino. A man whom I first discovered on Pro Dillinger’s album – Dirty Work, and I haven’t looked back since. A man who has worked with an array of my favourite artists and now is back to drop some biblical heat on the culture that feels like you’re taking a walk through the Garden of Eden!
To say I was mesmerised and blown away by this production would be the biggest understatement I could make this year. Wino has always been great, that’s a no-brainer, but on this one, he really has composed a strong symphony of songs and instrumentals that help build a strong relationship with the ones before and after to create a seamless atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in a whole new mystical realm.
If the Garden of Eden is real, then I feel this is how it would sound. Majestic, harmonious, elegant, beautiful, divine— you pick a term and it applies to this album. See, normally I’d pick a few songs to highlight and describe, but I don’t want to on this one because this is too perfect of a score that it shouldn’t be picked apart!
Wino has created what would be the most socially progressive and powerful soundscape I’ve heard all year. It goes beyond music; it’s in its own realm. I knew based on the album name and the artwork that this was going to be something unique, but nothing could have prepared me for this!
I need everyone to stop what they are doing and give this one a try. Your life will change because of it, and you probably won’t hear music the same after!
