Well, this is a collaboration I wasn’t expecting! When I saw this on my timeline, I knew I had to cover it. Two men who I have plenty of experience with coming together for a strong single! So let’s talk about it.

This is a brand-new single by MC Gustavo Louis with the feature of MC God Gotti and producer GRIIN, and this trio comes hot with a strong 2 minutes and 30 seconds that is sure to strike you while the iron’s hot! Let me tell you why!

Let’s start with the production side of things! This one has a rather mellow and minimalist vibe with those deep chord progressions, thick bass, and some sketchy sounds in the background that remind me of someone walking through a bush! Can’t really distinguish what it is, but it adds an eerier vibe to the overall track!

There’s also the case of the drums that hypnotically play and loop throughout the track to help wrap up the entire track to perfect that skeletal sonic atmosphere! One of the more surreal tracks I’ve heard Gustavo on, shout out to GRIIN for the instrumental!

When we discuss the actual MC work, we get a taste of Gustavo’s iconic and charismatic performance, which is full of his trademark high energy, creative puns, plenty of pop culture meets street talk references, and just overall, as he normally is, a colourful writer that brings vivid moments to the page.

Even the main sentence (and title throwback) of him saying -Making a slam, like Summerslam, but I don’t want no backlash as a wrestling fan. I thought that was a super creative line! 

When we get to God Gotti’s verse, he provides a more deeply toned, methodically charged verse in comparison to Gustavo, which makes for a great dynamic switch for the duo! Gustavo being the high energy, explosive, and adrenaline-driven while God is a more ‘Gotti boss type’ who slows down the pace, adds more power, and surrealism to his verses, which he does on this one!
