I can still remember the day like it was yesterday, when I got contacted by Sabio Dub for an album review, and as they say, the rest is history. Across my experience with him, he’s experimented with a vast amount of different sounds, but I’ve always appreciated his more mellow or ‘SUNSHINE’ rap influences, and today we get that in spades! So without further delay, let’s talk about it!

This is his largest effort yet, with a powerful roster of beat makers and rappers who all help bring this project together!
Now, if we discuss the MC work first, I want to start with this, with no disrespect to the other features, but that chemistry between Sabio and Gustavo? LEGENDARY! That might be the best feature verse I’ve heard from Gustavo; he absolutely killed it with Sabio, and they made a classic track on this shit!
Sabio, you can tell he’s in his element. With each new drop, his confidence, charisma, and passion increase, and he’s at that point now where he’s ready to take the top spot! His unique, calm, and smooth bars made him stand out from day one, and he’s only gotten bigger since.
There’s a reason why I call him ‘The King Of Sunshine Rap’ because of his dream-like verses where he takes what artists back in the day likeSnoop orSlick Rick invented and turned it up to an 11 with his own personal calming spin on it that is honestly unlike anyone else in the game right now!
Another impressive feat (as I briefly described above) is his ability to have strong chemistry with just about anyone! Whether it’s men who have the same lane and tone as he does or more aggressive and in-your-face artists such as MISKEEN, who he’s had a strong history with! He’s not a one-dimensional artist that can only work within his lane; he’s always branching off and testing his craft with the best of the best, and this album further proves that!
Also, the fact he can pull off anything from a three-track EP to a collaboration album with MISKEEN to a huge 20-track phenomenon! He isn’t bound to any time or length; he can do it all in that aspect too! He literally has no box to keep himself in. He’s a free soul who has spent the last few years capturing the hearts of the underground audience, and with this new one, he’s doing just that all over again!
As far as the production aspect goes. Although he does many of the tracks himself, he has a lot of guests who help bring to life that smooth and creative instrumentation! Many of the names he’s had a deep history with before, and others I’m seeing working with him fresh, but yet they all come together and create sonic magic.
As far as the sound goes? I want you to picture a warm, sunny day on the beach. Imagine you’re relaxing next to the sound of ocean waves, drinking your favourite cocktail (long island ice tea), listening to the various animals communicating in the trees and deep forest as you sit there appreciating life!
If that could be turned into a score, then THIS is what it would sound like!
It’s the most majestic of atmospheres with gorgeous use of instruments, damn near lo-fi inspired vibes, exquisite jazz notes, upbeat hip-hop, you name it, this album has it in spades! Each track has enough positive energy woven inside of it that I feel it would be actually impossible to listen to this record depressed! It sucks out all the negative feelings and leaves you legitimately a better feeling person!
If I had to play DEVILS ADVOCATE here and forced to choose a favourite track I would have to say -Ignite! For so many reasons. First that vocal harmony loop? That old school rnb feel is absolutely incredible! Combined with those light keys and that backup vocal usage? GOD DAMN it’s smooth!
And of course those light drums and that Gustavo Louis feature! It’s all absolutely perfect! This is truly the ultimate track all around!
