I feel this is a duo that’s been in the oven for a while. It was until recently we heard them pair up on a track with one of them giving one of their strongest feature verses I’ve heard all year and of course the other being one I’ve worked with closely! So mix the two together and your bound to find greatness!

This is the brand new collaborative project between MC’s Gustavo Louis and Sabio Dub! With Production from
-Sabio Dub
-Mack Stirner
And features from
-Jigg Myers
-JULEZ

And man I just gotta say this is one funky project! I was curious to hear what direction these two would take. Would it be more of a ‘Gustavo drug wave flavour’ or Sabio’s ‘Sunshine Rap’ variety and in a sense it’s the best of both worlds! You have the light, soulful and groovy as he’ll production you’d expect from a Sabio project with the same eccentric, detailed and charismatic street raps by Gustavo!
Of course this album features both men rapping and this one Sabio is back on his brash, ‘I’m the Mann’ type shit and on the rare occasion we get that side of him, it’s infectious as hell!

Their chemistry has already been proven strong and this album just seeks to amplify it 10x fold! On some tracks it’s just Gustavo, others both, on certain tracks features but they utilise their different dynamic styles to their advantages to create a fun and unique listening experience that sounds like they are having the time of their lives in the studio!
With Sabio’s smooth and breezy signature flow and delivery to Gustavo’s larger than life cadence and colorful wordplay create a chemistry that you don’t see every day and it’s banging to listen to!

As far as the production side goes we have as stated a more refined and upbeat listen then what I was expecting but one that suits the talents of both! A few key tracks that stood out to me were

-Can’t Hate there’s just something about that instrumental that I kept coming back to! From that vocal harmony that comes back in a re occurring loop every 10 or so seconds. Combined with those sharp chords, light bass and funky drum patterns that lends themselves to create this 1980’s vibes that I couldn’t resist!

The song -Bird Flipping was another fun one! This one felt like a vibrant soul track. I loved the combination of those glistening piano keys, thick bass lines that groove across the track! As well as some rhythmic drum patterns that makes this one of the more minimal tracks but there’s something about the stripped back nature of it that makes this feel that much more satisfying!

Then we have the track -Love Affair this one was the love child of Funk, Soul, RnB! This one has the best of all worlds. From those plucked bass that made me mean mug actors the track! There was that light looped vocal harmony as well as these tweaked strings that combined this instrumental to create a fever dream atmosphere!

This album plays like a 1980’s buddy movie. The Stoner and the Hustler. Like an alternate universe edition of ‘Bill And Ted’ but for Hip Hop. Gustavo and Sabio’s Excellent Adventure and it’s one you won’t want to sleep on!
