Prior to listening to this single I couldn’t help but wonder what style and approach this man was going to attempt next. I’ve heard him on a whole array of different sounds and aesthetics so my curiosity burned ever more intensely. But even I couldn’t have predicted this! Let’s talk about it!

This is the early September single by MC -Kendall Spencer and Producer -SMEL and they collectively drop this insane 2 minutes and 25 seconds of experientially laced hip hop that will make you feel like you’ve talked to the burning bush yourself on some Moses shit!

For Kendall’s part this felt like more like a verbal rapture then it did a verse. It’s so much more sporadic and fast-paced than I’m used to from the man! But since I have been talking to him recently it does seem like he’s found a second win in his life (post accident) and it looks like it’s manifesting in a more upfront, in your face and explosive energy coming from Kendall that I can’t lie fucking pumps me up!

This is a man whose spent the best of time I’ve listened to him giving us the most raw and emotionally heavy albums anyone has ever heard with lyrics that will genuinely make a grown man cry. But now he’s on to crisp and sharp flows, unpredictable nuances and a thirst for life that is acting as an adrenaline push for him on this track that has made him sound almost unrecognisable!

This actually reminds me of something -Earl Sweatshirt would do! It’s experimental, unapologetic, skilful and at times even cryptic lyrically! Kendall is embracing a new path and it seems we are just at the beginning with it!

Now as far as the production goes this literally sounds like a god-level fever dream. It’s hard to even describe consistent sounds because they change every few seconds.
At its core we have those plucked keys in those mysterious, haunting pattern alongside some heavy-handed drum beats and this echoing vocal sound that loops throughout the song with some lush bass!
As far as everything else goes, you got an hour? There’s what sounds like spaceships shooting beams in space, swaying and spinning chord progressions, what sounds like machine gun firing, towards the end some dying electronic sounds as if something robotic is being turned off!

As I said above this is a new wave for Kendall and he’s proving that with the instrumental side of things as well! This is unlike any other beat he’s worked with yet and it’s so left field that I can’t help but admire it’s thrilling aspects of unpredictable nature no matter how many times I listen to it, I catch things that surprise me!

If this is a sign of things to come then colour me HYPED! I can’t wait to dive into the upcoming album and see just how many sonic secrets their are to unlock! Tune in now!
