As someone who suffers regular bouts of nightmares and the occasional sleep paralysis fits, the title sounds hopeful! Will playing this at night help with all that? After this review, I gotta test it out!
This right here is the brand new tape by MC Kemp, Dupri, & Producer Soul La Flare, and together they drop this solid 13-track album that is action-packed with music that no one else is making right now!
Let’s start with the production of this shit because Soul has been one of the most consoling producers of 2026 so far. His abilities and catalogue are growing at a rate that no one is touching, and he’s only getting started! I love how each album (instrumental or otherwise) sounds like an acid trip! He’s bringing the effects and atmosphere of the 4th dimension to the forefront and letting the world feel that otherworldly immersion and decadence that comes with being the type of beat maker that he is!
Each track feels like a step out of time, like a fever dream for the mind.
A mini high that you can’t come down from until the whole album is done. It’s as if you’re experiencing 13 different trips in continuous succession.
For me, it’s impossible to choose a favourite because this whole album runs like a fluent machine. Each ‘high’ is a necessary part of the record that has to be explored in order to understand the depth of the album. To pick and choose one is to ruin the entire flow and understanding of the record. So with that in mind, I say each track is necessary and as amazing as the other!
One thing I can say though is that he has gone above and beyond on this one. As I said above, it feels like with each record I see immense improvement, and this one feels 10x fold. He’s easily one of the most creative producers out, and this one proves it! Shoutout to him! M
As far as the MC work goes, I’ll be honest, I haven’t heard much of Kemp, but the flowers he’s been getting across the social media plane have been insane! The world is talking about him, and after hearing this one, I finally understand why! He’s fucking dope.
The first thing I noticed about him was the fact that he has this mesmerising smoothness/nonchalance about him that I feel fits the aesthetic of this album perfectly because it felt like the same side of the coin as Soul’s more intense and powerful sounds!
While he raps, he sounds like he doesn’t have a care in the world. He toes the line between emotionless and powerful. He’s telling his story, and he ain’t worried about using fillers or pointless wording to get the message across. Each of the short tracks is clear, cut, and precise in his wordplay and bars.
That’s another thing. I love how he’s able to convey so much detail in such little time per track! The longest track on here is 2 minutes and 8 seconds, and that tells you just how compelling he can come across if he can utilise such small amounts of time to tell detailed stories about his current mentality or his situations.
He has vivid imagery. Introspective lyricism, and at times street poetry that sounds as gritty as anyone else to ever do it. I love how he doesn’t have a specific lane he commits to. He just spits how and what he wants to without worrying about verbal boundaries, and that gives this track a level of spontaneous excitement and creativity that most don’t have access to!
I also love how there are no features on here (as the opening song suggests). He rocks the whole album solo, and that’s all it needs because he has enough charisma to coat the culture and then some!
I also love how the last two tracks of the album are just the entire album split into two parts! The last time I remember this happening was that classic ‘Deadmau5’ album! Forgot the name, but at the end, he had the entire album mix at the end! Quite an interesting idea for sure!
Definitely one of the standout albums of the month so far and one I hope the rest of you will have the privilege to hear with the link below!
