As someone who is well versed in the producer at hand (and with some small experience with the MC), I had a good feeling about this one. It’s a coming together of two great minds who are destined to bring the best of each other, and that’s exactly what we see on this one! Let’s talk about it!
This is the February 2026 drop by MC Tajh Malik and Producer Lo Katana, and together they drop a busting sequel with eight tracks, 20 minutes, and one feature in -JovaRosx, and as expected, this one writes itself like an aesthetic fever dream unlike no other!
What I love about this album, first and foremost, is the production; this thing is absolutely sonically gorgeous!
As has been the case with anything Lo touches, but especially now. Across these eight, we hear a soundscape full of smooth vocal loops, minimal executions littered with beautiful chords, strings, keys, and other angelic elements that make your mind go on an overdrive of dopamine rushes that will have you feeling for more!
Whether you’re talking about the track -Character Better, with that subtle yet powerful vocal harmony loop combined with those soulful beat brakes and echoing piano that help give this track an extra boost in performance!
Or there’s the track -Divine Fresh, which starts off with this beautiful acoustic element that evolves into an almost mainstream trap feel with that loud bass and trap-flavoured beat pattern that makes me feel like I’m listening to The Migos or modern-day Gucci!
This is the track where we hear the one feature utilise his vocals to add extra emphasis to the track!
This track also has those same acoustic strings in the background and light keys that you have to focus on to hear! Overall, one of Lo’s more mainstream equivalent sounds but one he pulls off strongly!
We can even take a look at the track – Adidas Cleats (the finale track) as we see Lo bring a more methodical approach to the finale. There’s a sound of some muffled vocals in a wailing sound accompanied by some thick and funky bass and rhythmic drums! This song kind of sounds like a distorted version of aGorillaz song! But it’s infectious nonetheless!
In my small experience I had with Tajh (which must have been from before my days with the website), but regardless, he left an impression enough for me to remember his name and the quality he brings to the table, and it turns out I was right to store him in my memory because this man is dope as fuck!
First of all, I like his combination of both ‘calm & powerful’ performances he has. A man with the vocal strength of a public speaker with the ability to entice any crowd or audience listening to him!
You can tell by the words he uses and his extensive vocabulary that he’s a complex thinker who takes pride in his intellect and skill on the mic. He can switch it up with a flip of a coin between a trademark verse to a scholarly lesson in wordplay!
A penmanship that you don’t see every day with enough charisma to make his name memorable to someone even years after initially hearing his music!
I love the chemistry he brings to the table alongside Lo. The way he’s able to manipulate the instrumentals and wrap his verses around them to work best for him! That’s one clear sign of a great lyricist, and he does so effectively! Besides that one track with Jova, he nails the performance on this record solo, proving that he doesn’t need a roster of names to make a record pop and that he’s more capable to do it by himself!
Overall, a fantastic record to add to 2026. It’s lively, colourful, and impressive in all aspects. But don’t take my word for it; check it out for yourself!
Also, shoutout to -Juri Love for the performance on the intro!
