To be trusted with the calibre of MC’s on the field means he’s finally starting to get the eyes on him that I feel he should have had all along. As someone who’s covered a handful of his records in the past, I know this single was in safe hands! So let’s talk about it!

Let’s talk about the MC’s first! This is actually a weird take because tracks like these were beyond rare in the past, but this has a vibe of a 2000s mainstream chart song! This sounds like if all your favourite MC’s got onto one track and spit their best bars over a delicate beat!
Each MC feels comforting and strong in their delivery. I’m so used to covering grimy street boom bap that it’s left me refreshed to hear a track of this calibre that’s so forward-thinking and ever so focused!
Each of the MC’s hit a home run with those precise wordplay, the clever and witty bars. The well-worded lyrics and the personality to match. Each artist brought verbal rays of sunshine on the beat that I just cherished. This felt like Common on the beat! Someone who wants to spread awareness and love rather than violence and drugs! I was taken away by all performances as they not only showcased some of the most pure hip hop I’ve heard all year but also the chemistry they all shared with one another and the production itself!
Speaking of the MCs, we have Skinny! A man who is capable of incorporating any type of sound and influence. The very definition of versatility in human form, and man does he overdeliver on this one!
So, as I spoke about briefly above, this one feels like it has natural energy stored within it! As if it’s a real-life organism that is reacting to the environment of the MC’s and reacting accordingly!
If you could capture sunshine into a bottle, this would be the closest equivalent, as we have those rhythmic plucked strings that pluck the heart strings in the same looping fashion! Combined with what sounds like lavish violin chords, as well as some bass strung alongside it.
In fact, this is quite a genius set up: three separate layers of strings all assorted in various parts of the record without ever contradicting the next? Damn, that’s fucking smart!
As the song progresses, we do get some hypnotic drums woven into the separate strings and to provide the heart, so to speak, for the sonic organism, and it all just comes together to create summer in a bowl!
