Give this man the award for the best intro to the song of 2026. Nothing is going to top that! It’s one of a million reasons why this man is one of the premium artists of the modern era. With a strong discography and a performance unlike any other (not to mention the strongest feature artist of the year so far), he’s back with a song that might make your local neighbourhood friend relapse if they aren’t careful! Let’s talk about it!
MC Chubs meets Producer FiveEight Fever, and together they drop this ever-so-theatrical song based on the theme and usage of ‘Drugs’ if the title wasn’t so obvious.
Let’s start with the production because there are a lot of aspects of this song! First of all, as I mentioned above, we have that killer introduction that is a snippet of the ‘D.A.R.E. program’ from the 90s, and I gotta say it helps enhance the experience of the track 10x fold as the official song kicks in as we get this pure hypnosis turned into hip-hop form with those high-pitch chord progressions that loop around the track, creating this mesmerising void of sound that you can’t help but get lost in!
Combined with some heavy bass and rhythm, I drum beats, and you have a track that feels more lively than 80% of the songs we have circulating right now!
I love how there are various layers added to it. From that interlude to the instrumental to even after the song is done and we get another vocal snippet that sounds like a news report comparing snake venom to drugs! And then blasts you with the quote – One of the potentials for illegal drug traffic is the schools!
Everything about the track from its colourful presence to the ominous warnings at the start and the end of the track makes this feel more than just your standard hip-hop track but a work of art come to life!
When we discuss the MC aspect of the track, that’s when we come face to face with a man who I say has the best flow and rhythm in this game since Biggie and Method Man! No one can rap like he does; he turns every single track into a must-listen magic trick of words and penmanship where he makes every bar feel like a verbal gymnastics session, where he manipulates the beat so well that it’s damn near magical.
Across this track, I love how he uses his trademark flawless presence to drop bar after bar, which paints a vivid picture about the usage of drugs, the lifestyle of it, and the experience of living in that environment! He’s the kind of MC that could rap about anything and make it sound compelling, and he doesn’t miss on this one either! He’s gone the highest charisma, brash attitude, ruthless personality, and skill to match! No one like Chubs!
If you ain’t fucking with this track, then I don’t know what to tell you! You’re missing out on a man who has given his life to the culture and has outshined the best of them. Alongside FiveEight, he brings us another must-listen banger that you’ll undoubtedly have in your repeat for the rest of the year and beyond!
5/1/26 ‘GRHYME’ album coming soon! Fully produced by -FiveEight Fever be ready and stay ready!
