There really isn’t any artist out there like Chubs. This man seems to always step beyond the traditional box of hip hop and do his own shit. Never one to follow the herd, he’s back to remind the culture just who the fuck he is and what he’s all about, spitting that.

This is the first single off the upcoming highly anticipated album dropping next month called -GRHYME with full production by FiveEight Fever and, of course, performances by the one and only Chubs. On this one, we see him rocking this near 3-minute track to its utmost limit with his trademark strangle hold on beats with his iconic way with words.
If the art of lyricism was a living person, he’d be Chubs himself. This man came out of the woodwork and decided to occupy the toughest and most fluent spitting the culture has ever seen while giving the audience the grimiest take on street poetry and pop culture we’ve heard to date. One minute he can be on that drug talk, next minute street talk, next minute wrestling talk. He sold rocks to an alligator, put lead in a whale, boxed with lightning, and out-raped the competition all the way to jail!
He’s the man for real, and he doesn’t waste any time letting everyone know that. From his sniper precision, his eccentric and brash penmanship, and his relentless charisma. He’s been on that shit since day one, and on this track, he proves that even more so!
As far as the production goes, we get what sounds like psychedelic rock turned hip hop. You’ve got those swaying/sharp chord progressions that are mixed with those thudding drums and thick bass that come together to create an atmosphere that feels trippy, hallucinate in execution, and ever so hypnotic! Listening to this makes you feel fucked up whether you’re sober or not! That’s the mastery of instrumentation and vibe that this man has, to be able to placebo effect a feeling into your system that you know you don’t have but can’t help but feel!
This track also benefits from those ridiculously smooth cuts by the main man -DARUSTER who provides an old school feel to an already dope track bringing a new degree of heat to the instrumental and song overall!
It’s groovy, mentally draining (in the best way possible), and colourful in performance. If Pink Floyd decided to switch up for the new gen, I’m pretty sure this is what we’d be hearing from them! No lie! It’s that out there and mesmerising!
