It’s time yet again to unlock new characters in my ever-expanding journey of discovery in my journalism career. With well over 1k reviews to my name already since last year, I still continue to find new talent at every corner and turn, and today is no different! So, without any further delay, let’s get into it!
This is the latest 15th of May single by MC -Pab Montego and producer -TheBeatDealers, and together they drop a 3-minute track that is sure to get the culture buzzing one way or the other! Let’s start with the production side of things first!
Firstly, I love that opening vocal snippet about ‘How do you stay calm in chaos?’ It’s the perfect thought-provoking segue that connects to this pure and angelic feeling instrumental! On this one, wear a prominent vocal harmony that legitimately feels like angels are singing the melody! That loop is an organic stress relief that I can’t describe outside of divine and serene!
That loop is paired with some incredibly rhythmic drums and what sound like some lush violin strings!
Honestly, this track feels like a hip-hop orchestra! All the elements are grand and heavily atmospheric in execution! Definitely wasn’t expecting that, but now can’t stop listening to that gorgeous instrumentation!
As far as the lyric aspect goes, we have Pab who does his best to capture the essence of the production and highlight his vocals and performance to an equally high degree, and I feel he did a pretty solid job!
What I noticed about this guy’s verse was first his mellow and smooth nature! He’s smart enough to let the beat do its thing and to just naturally sync with the music and his words to create magic!
I love how he incorporated introspective lyricism with his up-front delivery, no nonsense or experiential shit, just straight trademark wordplay that makes each of his words feel like bars of gold in weight! Plus, the fact he’s doing this solo with no feature makes his impact feel that much harder!
