This is the type of single you play when you want to get your life in order! The wake-up at 3 am and do exercise and get your diet sorted truly change your life type song! I was listening to this feeling ashamed of my two packets of mi goreng noodles and mango full-sugar monster for my lunch! But that’s the effect powerful songs have on you, so let’s get into it!
This is the brand-new single by MC B1 The Architect (who also produces the track) and Desean Jackson, and they come together strong for this infectious and ever-so-enlightening three-minute track that is going to make you think a certain way one way or another!
Let’s start with the production value. We have a beat that’s a lot more positive and optimistic than the last single I covered. It has this hopeful energy to it with a light and minimal atmosphere that forces the audience to look within themselves and find serenity.
You’ve got these acoustic-style plucked strings with some hypnotic drums and elegant piano keys that very lightly go off in the background, that’s accompanied with what sounds like some beautiful violin strings.
Everything about this track is harmonies and soul-warming. If you listen to this beat and lyrics and don’t feel some kind of way, you’re dead inside! It’s like one of those many other inspirational-driven tracks like 8 Mile or Till I Collapse; it’s supposed to drive work and healing within the listener, and I feel it will do its job nicely!
As far as the bars go, B1 and Jackson compliment it nicely! They understand the tone required for this instrumental and they fit the mould. From B1’s introspective lyricism where he takes the approach for explaining his current or past situations in grim detail and giving the listener a sense of dread that later comes with salvation and promise for a better tomorrow! It’s a cliché yet well-spoken theme in music when you grab the audience with the pain and suffering only to re assure them that one day it can be okay!
Same can be said for Jackson. Similar dynamics in lyricism and concept. The idea of pain forging the body and soul into something stronger, not letting the situation get the better of you, and doing so with great flow, expert wordplay, and a sense of purpose and charisma that makes each word a must-listen!
Honestly, this is one hell of a track. It hits you where you need it, and the pair of MC’s hit it out of the park! Go listen to it now!
