I’ve made my opinion on this duo very clear many times in the past. Sometimes a pairing just click! They are able to create the ideal atmosphere your looking for and although their sound might be niche to some, for me it’s perfect for when I have a sonic itch to scratch they provide it! So without any more wasting time let’s go back in time to cover this underrated gem!

This is the 2024 record by MC -MiyagiSun and Producer -GHOST X MACHINE with one extra producer in -YagiGotBeats and one feature in -Here$ Johnny! 11 tracks, 35 minutes of what I can only describe as a variety of different fever dreams wrapped into one experience!

The one thing I love about Ghost’s production is that it stays rolling in that ambient, lo fi soundscapes that takes your brain away into an alternate reality for the duration of the singled/EP’s or albums. He’s mastered that art and that’s why each write up can take me multiple more listens then usual because he literally puts me on cloud nine with his music that it can be hard to stay on focus and not let the atmosphere take me away!

I mean when tracks like -Infinity Motion which is exactly as it sounds a trippy sphere wrapped in infinite motion that is infectious and hypnotic as hell. We’ve got those sporadic jazz horns that have that lively feel to them! Those are accompanied by some echoing and fleeting keys with some subtle bass strings and drum tracks that add some extra weight and texture to an already stacked track!

We have songs like -DON’T WAKE UP YET (STOP WAITING) which accurately describes how I feel when I listen to any Ghost production because my body is saying ‘Don’t wake Up’ and my brain is like ‘dude, you gotta do this write up! Pay attention’ so perfect name for this album.
On this one we get what I would describe as methodically driven funk! You’ve got those distant and slow paced strings that make you feel like your listening to everything in slow motion! These are accompanied by some muffled drum work that also has an echo effect!
There’s also an overwhelming sensual vibe to the the song with those spacey chord progressions that make this instrumental feel like a soothing invasion of the senses!

As far as the MC work goes, once again (and as I recalled in the intro) MiyagiSun at this point has a sixth sense chemistry with Ghost. That producer tag Ghost uses ‘The Ghost In The Machine, It has become sentient!’ Well Miyagi is the Sentient being come to life from Ghost’s Brain as they work together in a higher dimension of synchronicity that most can only home to have!

I will say lyrically Miyagi is on a more brash and mean attitude hype then on previous records. It’s as if he has a slight chip on his shoulder and he’s ready to talk his shit! And hell he’s been (in my opinion) one of the more underrated lyricists in the game for years so I wouldn’t blame him for wanting a bit recognition or due diligence after so long putting out complex verses and flexing his wordplay but now he’s essentially going ‘this is what I can rock, can you follow?’ And it’s a dope side to hear from him!
It also makes sense why he would have a heavy spitter such as -Here$ Johnny on the cut! Another malicious MC whose energy and powerhouse personality has been notorious in the underground scene and this time is no different! They ended up having a solid chemistry together!

In saying this though, there are a lot of cuts where we hear Miyagi sounding more breezy and careless as he sings the choruses or the occasional singing notes towards the end of the track just to amplify that angelic production! So even though I find the majority of his lyricists more aggressive on this one he’s still the type to utilise his aura and smooth cadence to it’s maximum potential and the combination between that and a slight raw approach works wonders!

So, why not do yourself a favour and go back in time and try a record that i guarantee you haven’t heard anything like before!
