Very rarely do I get to cover music done by someone I know personally but today is one of those special occasions! I was able to review this singers last drop with a different band and now we are back with new music that I’m sure will be a staple for all metalheads in 2026! Let’s go!
This is the brand new album by Band -For The Fear with members
Nathan -Bass
Sam -Guitar
Harley -Guitar
Marshall -Drums
Matt -Vocals
And across these 7 tracks we hear some absolutely vicious music that I’d describe as a cross between Deathcore and Metalcore! Let me explain why!
Firstly across the tracks (and specially tracks such as ‘Bitter Ways’ and ‘True Lies’ we have that sensational groove element in the instrumentation that you’d come to expect from the -MetalCore element! Those swaying guitar notes, plucked rhythmic strings with those hypnotic drums and eccentric vocal work!
So think of bands like ‘KillSwitch Engage’ or ‘As I Lay Dying’ to name a few of examples in which I feel they would draw influence!
BUT On the flip side we have the brutality of that ‘Deatcore’ elements on tracks like ‘F.T.F and ‘Turn Cold’ which showcase the more powerful, uncompromising and dangerous side with those blood curling death growls mixed with that cold
Blooded methodical pacing of those heavy guitar and tortuous drum work that feels like a kick in the chest! And the way all the elements feel frantic and violent in execution. Think of bands like ‘Suicide Silence: Mitch era’ or ‘Thy Art Is Murder’ to name a few!
If I had to name my favourite track on the album it would be -True lies because GOD DAMN is that a satisfyingly sinister track! From the moment the song starts your already hit with that combo of electric guitar and drum symphony that is as mammoth as the vocals are! These work in timely melody to create an insatiable urge of adrenaline coursing through Body!
I’d say this is one of the main tracks that blends the both sub genres the best together! Because as the song continues it seems to get even more lethal in execution while maintaining that ‘MetalCore’ rhythm in the instruments!
Plus Matt’s vocals across this track are expressive to say the least! He sounds like he’s one line away from coughing up his own organs! Definitely reminiscent of a Mitch Luker in the Death Growl department as he maintains his murderous eccentricity throughout the 2 minutes and 35 second duration!
In fact I want to tough on Matt because this whole album he sounds larger than life and more focused then he did on the last album I covered for him! It’s like he has a new lease on passion and conviction and he’s willing not gonna waste a single second of it!
I love how each track adds a little something new! There are tracks like ‘Bitter Ways’ that actually remind me of early Corey Taylor Slipknot days! And then of course his own little tweaks and adjustments to make sure each song feels unique!
For example how the intro to the song ‘Mi Vada’ which starts off with this acoustic soundscape features a snippet from the classic film ‘A Bronx Tale’ the iconic ‘Is it better to be loved or feared’ and that sets up a nice Segway to that brutal track!
Even the intro to ‘Turn Cold’ has a slight vocal line that kicks off what I’d consider one of the more brutal tracks on the album!
Look, all in all this is a fantastic first impression for this band! I know that anything Matt involves himself in is sure to be a hit and this album proves it! If your a metalhead you can’t afford to sleep on this!
