Grime Pays

I wasn’t expecting an album so soon by the man who has dropped one of my personal ‘AOTY’ list albums. One I even collected on physical! He’s a man who has let his personality and overwhelming charisma speak for him and it’s worked as he’s accumulated one of the strongest discographies in the game right now. Now working alongside one of the biggest producers in the game this one can’t miss! Let’s go!

This is the brand new album by MC -Chubs and Producer -C-Lance as they come strong with 11 tracks, 31 minutes with the likes of
-Xp The Marxman
-ILL BILL
-Lord Goat
-Recognise Ali
-Bub Styles
-Figerson
-Blizz From Juice
-Jalen Frazier

And with that powerhouse list of names this one has the potential to be even better than his last effort! Upon first listen the potential is strong!

Chubs man, he’s really that guy. I haven’t heard anyone that sounds like him! I think the term ‘boss energy’ is said too freely these days but in his case it’s accurate. He’s the living embodiment of ‘Burly’ and he showcases that with his one of one flow that I’d say is Top 5 in Hip-Hop history! Up there with your -Method Man & Redman’s the way he’s able to glide across the beats with his incredible vocals infused with his brand of infectious street talk & bully rap that makes him a force to be reckoned with!

Each new bar is a new quotable. From his choruses to his verses he’s never one to censor or pull his punches. He’s telling the world how it is and forces everyone to listen! His Burly deep tone is an instant iconic tune that amplified each word he spits!
He’s able to create such intense vivid stories and situations on his tracks that instantly transforms your listening experience into a cinematic adventure of the most grimiest nature!
That’s also the case when you count the features on the tracks!

Chubs has recruited the most lethal lyrical murderers who have spent years sharpening their signature sound to a decapitating extent! Each feature helps not only improve but increase the power of the tracks alongside strong chemistry with Chubs himself! It’s like listening to a wordplay massacre delivered by the strongest in the game!

On this occasion we have as mentioned above -C-Lance on the production field. He’s a man who I discovered long before my website and he’s only grown stronger since then and now he’s in the process of dropping what could be seen as his strongest album yet!

When you consider tracks like -Light The Strip which has this eerie boom Bap exterior to it that I fell in love with instantly! This one has these plucked keys that loop throughout the track alongside some grainy deep bass chords, droning drum work and some second layered keys that have a lighter tone then the first one!
I love how minimal yet powerful this track is! The perfect environment for a man like XP to go off on!

There’s tracks like -Underseat Essentials which has this lavish fusion between high end luxury sounds and gritty underground atmosphere to it! I think it’s those delicate keys that gives me the premium vibe as they are accompanied by what sounds like xylophone chords alongside some trademark bass strings and minimal drums!
This track has a sort of hypnotic effect to it that I loved!
It’s also the track we hear Bub Styles return on the track with Chubs! A duo that can never miss!

Another beat that captivated me was -Ill Will this one is one of the few that utilises that stripped-back vocal loop type instrumentals! The vocal harmony used has this sombre energy to her that makes this one feel extra emotional!
Add that with those methodical bass lines and trademark drums sprinkled with some light keys and you have a song that hits you in your heartstrings!
Not to mention the lyrical matter of the track which feels more heartfelt than usual from Chubs like he’s getting something off his chest!

Another solid album by Chubs and Company. He’s been on a generational run from ‘Bruiser Brody LP 1’ in 2024 to now! Back-to-back bangers and I just know the old-school heads are gonna soak this one up! It’s unforgiving, ruthless and powerful! Check it out now!
