It’s been roughly two or more months since I last covered this artist. A man who brought to my attention a sound I wasn’t expecting and didn’t know existed in the first place, now it’s one I look forward to with each new drop!

This is the brand new album by MC -13th Hour (AKA Mufasa RKG) and Producer -OwlTree and they bring together this 13 track experience that somehow feels even more vivid and vibrant than before!
This album consists of features
-Kaboom
-Marlon Jerome

Now, The reason I find this production so compelling is because OwlTree is able to capture an array of different elements into one structural atmosphere in a way I don’t hear anyone doing. From dark and deadly energy to energetic boom Bap to intricate & experimental influences that each have their own distinct place on the album while blending with the tracks that come before and after!

For example we have tracks like -Superman Had To Die Again (already a pretty grim title) but from that we get this incredibly eerie instrumental which consists of these scattered keys that give a haunting feel to them that work hand in hand with these chilling flute samples that make this creepy synchronicity that had the hair on my back stand up!
We also hear those thick bass lines as well as this occasional shrieking chord or distorted chords that gave me a legit fright the fist time I heard it used!
What’s also interesting to me is the minimal yet free lance nature of the drums. It’s not in the forefront nor is it in the background but somewhere fascinatingly in the middle!

We can discuss the track -13:45 which once again felt terrifying to listen to. This sounds like a mental torture session that I was forced to deal with for review sake! You’ve got these lively piano keys that have this abrupt nature to them from fast paced and frantic to suspiciously smooth and trademark which makes me think of a serial killer playing the piano trying to throw me off my nerves just to take me out last minute!
There’s also those dead stripped strings in that dark ambient atmosphere and this overall intense aesthetic that rumbles throughout the entire instrumental in what I can only imagine is what real life Bleach ‘Spiritual Pressure’ feels like!

Interestingly enough the final track -Missing Puzzle Pieces is one of the more mellow tracks we have here. Maybe Owl wanted to let his audience go lightly to leave a pleasant memory amongst all that heavy sound!
This one has this beautiful Jazz horn loop that you can feel deep in your soul! That’s combined with some intricate piano keys, rhythmic drums and addictive strings that come together to create a wave of emotion and harmony that acts as a swift instrumental embrace to close this powerful album off!

As far as the MC portion of it goes, I’m happy to say that this man Mufasa embraces this score of borderline demonic sounds and extreme instrumentals and creates his own lyrical chaos that rises above the production and stands on it’s own two!
First thing I noticed early on was how his cadence and characteristics would switch based on the type of beat he was on! Some tracks he was methodical others he was fast paced, on some he was diabolically gritty and others smoothly introspective.

He let the music dictate his pacing and rhythm and that’s rare to hear these days. While doing all that he still maintained his sharp and vivid lyricism, his slick way with the pen where you hung on every word he spit while letting the atmosphere of the music amplify each and every bar to it’s utmost capacity and intensity! He’s like a speciality author. Imagine he was a Yu Gi Oh card and on the effects it would say ‘Power amplified 10x fold when words mixed with music’ that’s what I feel is going on here and I love every second of it!

This is a collaboration that is truly unique. Even to the few features they chose knowing it would create maximum impact across these instrumentals and they were correct! From the first to this these two don’t miss and I’m excited to see what they do next!
