This is the brand new album by MC -Bub Styles and Producer -Wino Willy and together they drop this 10 track album with feature from -CRIMEAPPLE -Daniel Son -David Jame$ -Plaza718 I feel at this point in his career Bub Styles is working to perfect a formula. What formula? Heavy, bombastic energy curated through a gargantuan persona that is Bubs larger than life attitude and charisma. The best part about his performances are, it doesn’t matter who he works with on the beat sides his intensity and sharp movements never fail! Think of it as your favourite fighting game character in a crossover game. Whether it’s Tekken vs Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter Vs CapCom whatever series you choose to play, your favourite character remains the same and so can be said about Bubs! Across these 27 minutes he’s continued to infuse his supreme lyricism with his powerful vocals to create an atmosphere that no one else can match. Enough savagery to shake the ground around you with a swift cadence that will immediately impress you at how he can craft his penmanship in such a violent way! He’s revolutionary with his bully, brag rap. Every bar is enough to make you second guess your own progress in life! All the creative ways he’s able to remind you you’re broke and a bitch. If you ain’t got strong self esteem you might not survive this album! Of course he ain’t alone. He comes equipped with that solid roster that has never let him down in the past and hasn’t started now! Whether it’s the notorious hustler in -CRIMEAPPLE who shows what true solid chemistry looks like! Or the street talk king himself -Daniel Son providing an equally gritty verse alongside Bub! It was refreshing to hear him alongside -David Jame$ who brings his Stella pen game to the table and goes toe to toe with Bub! And of course -Plaza718 being trusted to close the record off in a magnificent manner! On the production side of things we obviously have Wino. A man who I feel has earnt your trust and respect across any project he decides to drop! He’s spent his whole career building a solid discography and consistency to match and one again he demonstrates these qualities with this banging record that is able to achieve a ‘main event’ feel in under 30 minutes. This whole album sounds like a continual sonic adventure split up into 10 segments. Each track has the same vibe, aesthetics and key elements that fuse alongside Bub to create the rich and dominant score we hear today! From tracks like -New Duffels with those wavy chords that fly throughout the instrumental that are accompanied by those slow paced drums and thick bass that combine to create this beautiful boom Bap influence that you could listen to for hours! Same can be said for the opening track -Barry White which stars off with that Pharrell style 4x beat that evolves into this gritty instrumental that features distorted keys in that malicious loop, rhythmic drum work and subtle bass that helps to add to the texture! There’s also some secondary keys you can hear deep in the background! This is the best introduction you can ask for this collaboration album! I love that outro track as well! It has this ambient, mysterious nature to it. It has to do with those forefront what sounds like distorted flute samples that loop around the track. This combined with those thick bass and heavy handed drums makes an experimental effort that throws a curveball to the audience right before it ends! Not to mention as stated above the efforts of -Plaza718 with his smooth delivery across this complex beat works so well! Look, it should come as no surprise that this pairing was gonna be dope. The question was merely to what extent and the answer? All the way. Two house hold names and a small handful of lyrical mercenaries coming together to wreck havoc and that’s exactly what we get here!
