I can still remember clear as day, 4th of April 2025 when the underground blew up on talks of this one album that you just HAD to listen to! This ‘Grimeball Crimelord’ that had the culture by the throat! And when I finally decided to take a listen I understood why. An album with one of the biggest list of who’s who in the market with some of the most grimmest production I’ve heard period. Now that same producer is back and he’s attacking the game like he never left with this incredible single! Let’s talk about it! This is the brand new single by Producer -Ill Clinton with features by -Snotty & -Northside Lord and together they drop this heavy 2 minutes and 41 seconds of straight heat that will have you melting in your chair! Believe that! So the first part I want to talk about is that fucking production because holy shit does it go off! This sounds like a James Bond villain soundtrack! It’s ruthless, heavy handed and destructive in it’s arrangement that you feel immediately with those methodically executed drum patterns that’s paired with those sickening piano keys that feels like a sonic kick to the chest with each note! If that combo wasn’t enough we have the addition of those powerful chord progressions that rock in such a groovy yet hard way that it forces you to mean mug! As the song continues we even hear what sounds like some cinematic Jazz horns that make you feel like you’re tuned into a 1980’s thriller film where all the main characters are chain smoking badasses! On the MC side of things you couldn’t have asked for a stronger pairing! Up first is Umbrella’s own Snotty and he never fails to impress! I’ve heard him open for tons of rappers and he’s never disappointed! Coming strong with his relentless tier of street rap poetry that is as in depth and descriptive as anyone! You feel like you’re on the street corner with him as he’s spitting those bars. Dipped in his usual raw charisma and slick flows he helps dominate and set up the instrumental with the proper energy and atmosphere for our second man to go off on! That being -Northside a man who starts the rap off with one of the funniest puns I’ve heard all year talking about ‘before you get the money, you gotta learn to put the work in the bag/this Drake is the best I’ve ever had!’ That’s one hell of a way to kick off the verse and he only gets stronger from there! Will equally charismatic bars as Snotty with his own fluent and smooth delivery mixed with his perfect pronunciations and interesting wordplay he helps narrow the track to it’s end with plenty of homage lines paid, clever penmanship and a solid performance that continues that mean mug look you’d started with at the very start of the beat! Ill Clinton is effortless in his creations, he’s able to immerse the listener in his sonic worlds while highlighting pure lyrical demons to tear it up! Don’t sleep on this one!
