SUMMER BOY

You know what’s interesting with this artist? He’s always doing something different. He remains unpredictable which always adds a new layer of anticipation going into any music he drops! I’ve been fucking with him so long I had an album review stashed away of a record you guys might never hear! That’s true day one shit! And now as Summer is leaving the US we have a track that is pretty much dedicated to the farewell of it! So? Let’s talk about it! This is the brand new single by MC Gustavo Louis and Producer -GRIIN! A solid 3 minutes and 50 seconds of audio to dedicate towards the changing of the seasons and in this one we once again hear a different side to Louis! Firstly if we discuss the production side of things we have this surreal vocal snippet that loops around the track that emphasises with the track name! It feels like a combination of Blues and Soul vocals there’s a hint of sadness attached to the performance that stuck with me long after I finished the track. This instrumental is one of the more methodical I’ve heard from Gustavo. A slow paced song with those paced drum work, a lavish and delicate use of piano keys! patient guitar strings along with that one plucked string that comes back every 5-7 seconds! Definitely a song alot more emotional and dynamic in it’s execution then I’m use to hearing from a Louis track and it suits him so fucking well! The rapping itself lends itself to the slow pace. Of course Gustavo continued to drop his heavy handed street poetry mixed with his iconic charisma but on a more soothing and eccentric scale. He’s not going against the grain here, he’s rapping WITH the aesthic of the beat so that his words and words he instrumental go hand in hand with vibe and feel and I really liked that about the track. There’s something about an artist understanding the form of the music itself and working accordingly. That’s why his wordplay, delivery, rhythm and attention to detail are on a more subdue wave length then we are use to because it suits the narrative of the song! That my readers is what’s called proper artistic direction ! So, what are you waiting for? Summer might be over but that doesn’t mean you can’t rock with dope music! Peep in today!
