This man is someone I’m honored to call a friend. He’s been one of my strongest supporters and someone who is incredibly talented and humble in his enthusiasm towards the culture! So it’s with the utmost gratitude and respect that I introduce you to this brand new project!
This is the freshly cooked EP by Producer -Eric Frm Salem! A beat tape that consists of 4 tracks and 9 minutes worth of material that will have the underground running it up!
Let’s discuss these tracks, so firstly we have -all se7en seas and honestly I didn’t know what to expect but it definitely wasn’t this funky shit right here! This feels like dope dance groove shit! From those bouncy piano keys, scattering chords that sound like birds flying away in a rush!
There’s also some funky ass bass lines that work in sync with those slap stick drums that creates this 80’s disco vibe that I couldn’t get out of my head!
I also love that high pitch chord progression that runs throughout the whole track to create an extra layer of ambiance!
We have the song -gravity which switches up the rhythm with this time a Jazz influence incorporated with the Hip-Hop! We’ve got those incredibly smooth horns that embellish the instrumental! Those are meet with what sounds like high pitched female vocal loops as well as some subtle bass strings and raw drums to create the most relaxing ambiance possible!
I do love how towards the end of the track we do get a hint of glitching effects which weirdly enough remains me of the -DeadMau5 song ‘Sometimes Things Get, Whatever’ how he slowly builds for the song to glitch!
On the third track -i am heartbroken with the knowledge that i will never get to go to my favourite restaurant ever again (damn long ass name)
But contrast to the name the beat structure is quite short in layers. You’ve got this minimal instrumental that features a bunch of vocal harmonies in the same loop, atmospheric plucked strings, subtle drum usage and in the background these lighter synth notes to maintain a level of aesthetic!
I also love he maintained the glitchy effects from previous to bleed into this one! It was a nice touch!
For the final track we have -everyone must keep something sacred which has this truly unique feel to it! I’d go so far as to describe it as ‘life energy’ due to it’s benevolent nature! You’ve got the combination of those luscious strings that appear to come in two different layers one a more delicate loop the other this echoing pattern that has a slight muffled effect to them!
Those are met with some surreal drum beats that have a droning quality to them and then as the song advances we hear some heavier bass form to give the song a sense of power!
For only 9 minutes of content this EP is fantastic! It’s light, creative, original and in a way optimistic because it makes you feel better than when you started! Exactly how it is after a conversation with the man! Tune in!
